Beyond October

In a world brimming with glitzy yet vacuous entertainment events, it’s rare to find one that not only captivates but also inspires and empowers. That’s exactly what the Beyond October Cancer Campaign has done for the past 10 years, thanks to the vision of Manju Ramanan, celebrated journalist and author who pioneered this life-changing initiative.

This year, Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green 2024 took center stage at the stunning Dubai International Arts Centre (@diacjumeirah), transforming the annual cancer awareness event into something far more impactful than just a campaign. It became a celebration of strength, resilience, and conscious living. With a focus on both breast cancer awareness and sustainable living, the event sparked conversations that transcended health, tying in a deeper call for wellness in all aspects of life. Proudly joining hands, TheGlitz partnered as the media voice from India, amplifying the campaign’s powerful message to a wider global audience.

The Beyond October Concept

Launched in 2014 as the Can Defeat Cancer Campaign, Manju’s goal was simple yet profound—to create a platform where cancer warriors could share their deeply personal stories of resilience, hope, and survival. Over the years, this campaign has grown into a powerful movement, shedding light on the experiences of brave women who’ve faced and fought breast cancer.

The campaign’s journey started at the Beauty Connections Spa and has since made its mark at prominent venues such as Danube Home, Radisson Blu, Deira, Crowne Plaza, Dubai Marina, and Gargash Hospital.

Beyond October

This year, it transforms into Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green, an event that not only continues to raise awareness about breast cancer but also champions sustainable living—a beautiful synergy of health, wellness, and environmental consciousness.

With Bhima Jewellers celebrating their 100 years in India and 10 years in the UAE, graciously supporting the campaign as part of their CSR initiative, and Innara providing pottery classes for attendees to express their unique sensibilities, the event was a blend of creativity, sustainability, and community spirit. An eco-souq presented by Your Eco Souq further enhanced the event’s commitment to green living.

Inspiring!

Manju Ramanan’s visionary leadership has truly been the heart and soul of the Beyond October Cancer Awareness Campaign, propelling it from a modest initiative to a transformative movement that has touched countless lives over the past decade. Her passion for creating an inclusive platform where breast cancer warriors can share their inspiring stories of resilience has not only raised awareness but also empowered individuals to engage in proactive discussions about health and wellness.

Thanks to Manju’s unwavering dedication, Beyond October has garnered enthusiastic support from prominent media outlets, enhancing the campaign’s visibility and impact. Zee Group, a media powerhouse, has championed the cause, ensuring that its message reaches millions. Talk 100 FM has added its voice to the campaign, spreading awareness across the airwaves, while the widely respected Khaleej Times and WKND Magazine have provided extensive print and digital coverage, further amplifying the initiative’s reach within the UAE.

The Glitz, led by Sumita Chakraborty, joined forces from India, adding an international dimension to the campaign’s narrative, and helping connect audiences globally to the message of hope, strength, and sustainable living. Additionally, Playfield Entertainment’s podcast brought a modern, digital angle to the campaign, offering a platform for in-depth discussions and personal stories. Hidden Health, as the food partner, reinforced the campaign’s commitment to holistic wellness by promoting nutritious and mindful living, aligning with the campaign’s dual mission of promoting breast cancer awareness and sustainable lifestyles.

Through these dynamic partnerships, Manju has successfully woven together a community of supporters, storytellers, and advocates, all working toward a common goal: to make a meaningful difference in the fight against breast cancer and to inspire a healthier, more sustainable way of living.

More than an event, Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green is a movement that embodies the strength of cancer warriors, the importance of sustainable living, and the power of community. Thanks to Manju Ramanan’s tireless dedication, this campaign continues to inspire, empower, and make a difference, year after year.
