Kabita Singh x Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives

This October, one of India’s most recognisable home kitchens is packing its flavours and heading for the Indian Ocean. Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives, part of Sun Siyam’s Lifestyle Collection, welcomes award-winning food creator Kabita Singh, the woman behind the hugely popular Kabita’s Kitchen, for a special culinary residency marking International Chefs’ Day on 20 October 2026. TheGlitz reports…

There are few things that travel as effortlessly as food. A spice, a familiar aroma, a perfectly tempered dal can transport you home even when you are thousands of miles away. This October, that homesick magic is heading to the Maldives… courtesy of one of India’s most recognisable food creators, Kabita Singh of Kabita’s Kitchen.

For International Chefs’ Day on 20 October 2026, Kabita Singh will trade her familiar home kitchen for the tropical playground of Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives, bringing her accessible, deeply Indian style of cooking to an island setting. And if the idea of watching one of India’s most-loved food creators cook against a backdrop of turquoise water and white sand sounds rather irresistible, that is precisely the point.

Kabita Singh – From YouTube Kitchen to Island Kitchen

Kabita’s Kitchen began with something wonderfully uncomplicated: making Indian cooking feel less intimidating. Today, with approximately 14.6 million YouTube subscribers, Kabita has transformed that philosophy into one of India’s most followed food platforms.

Her appeal lies in familiarity. Regional favourites, vegetarian staples, festive recipes, street-food classics and everyday family meals have all found a place in her kitchen. In 2024, that influence was recognised at the inaugural National Creators Award, where Kabita Singh received the Best Creator in Food Category.

Now her audience gets to experience that food philosophy beyond the screen.

At Olhuveli, Kabita Singh will join the resort’s culinary team for a live cooking experience, creating a selection of vegetarian, vegan and health-conscious dishes specially curated for the occasion.

The collaboration also dovetails neatly with Sun Siyam Olhuveli’s Plant Based Bliss philosophy, which explores the nutritional and holistic benefits of plant-forward dining.

Guests won’t simply be handed a plate and told its backstory. They will be able to watch Kabita cook, discover the techniques and stories behind the dishes and, naturally, taste the results.

Why This Maldives Experience Feels Different

The Maldives has long perfected the art of selling escape: villas suspended over water, impossibly blue lagoons, sunsets that look almost digitally enhanced. But today’s luxury traveller increasingly wants more than a beautiful view.

Experiences matter. So does connection.

That is where a culinary residency such as this becomes interesting. It takes something deeply familiar… Indian home cooking… and places it in an entirely unexpected setting. The result is not simply a meal, but a cultural exchange served with a side of island life.

TheGlitz Take

At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, the Maldives isn’t merely the backdrop this time. It becomes part of the recipe. And to top it, Kabita Singh enters, bringing the warmth of the Indian kitchen; Sun Siyam Olhuveli brings the tropical theatre. Somewhere between the two lies the real luxury: being able to taste something familiar while experiencing it somewhere completely new.
