Kalyan Navaratri & Kalyanaraman

On a glittering Navaratri evening, it was indeed a starry night at Thrissur where tradition, cinema and cosmic storytelling danced together under one roof. The Kalyanaraman family’s annual celebration assembled a constellation of film stars… from Akshay Kumar, Nagarjuna, Karishma Kapoor, Tabu, Malaika Arora to many more, to grace the festivities with reverence and spectacle. TheGlitz reports…

Kalyan Navaratri

This year’s theme delved deep into myth: a grand recreation of Kailash Parvat and a sacred Shivling brought focus to Lord Shiva’s cosmic role, while a dramatic representation of Sapta Matrikas celebrated the divine feminine forces that aided in the defeat of demonic chaos. The narrative of Samudra Manthan… the legendary churning of the ocean became more than mythology; it became metaphor, echoing the eternal struggle between light and darkness.

Kalyan – Bommai Kolu

Central to the ambiance was the Bommai Kolu, a tiered tableau of dolls and figurines portraying mythic lore, everyday life, and divine pantheons. Guests were personally guided through each layer, with the Kalyanaraman family weaving together scriptural insight and poetic symbolism, turning the stairway of dolls into journey of spirit and meaning.

Creme-de-la-creme

The guest list read like a who’s who across Indian cinema: Akshay Kumar; Nagarjuna & Amala; Nag Chaitanya & Akhil Akkineni; Karishma Kapoor; Tabu; Genelia Deshmukh; Malaika Arora; Sreeleela; Kalyani Priyadarshan; Prabhu Ganesan & Vikram Prabhu; Suchitra Mohanlal; Jayaram & Parvathy; Kalidas Jayaram & Tarini; Malavika Mohanan; director Satyan Athikkad joined with Akhil and Anoop Satyan; Jayasurya; Indrajith & Poornima; Kavya Madhavan & Dileep; Kriti Shetty; Rejena Cassandra; Shriya Pilgaonkar; Sayami Kher; Priya Varrier; Pearle Maaney; Navya Nair; Supriya Menon; Lakshmi Gopalaswami; Mamta Mohandas. Also adding gravitas were Kalyan Jewellers’ regional brand ambassadors: Ritabhari Chakraborty, Pooja Sawant, and Kinjal Rajpriya, who embodied the brand’s ethos of bridging tradition with contemporary appeal.

Resplendent Ambience

The tone of the evening was intimate yet grand. Among mandalas of marigold and flickering lamps, celebrities mingled with family, artists with guests, and the sacred with the social. Moments of performance… classical dance, pranayams, recitations interspersed with quiet pauses of devotion. Every frame felt curated but felt lived, each gesture resonant.

Kalyan Jewellers & Kalyanaraman’s Navaratri Celebration

The Kalyanaraman family’s Navaratri has always been more than just a festive gala, it is ritual theatre. It speaks of lineage, devotion, and the capacity of public celebration to carry private reverence. In this ceremony, stars don’t just visit; they participate in a tapestry woven from the threads of myth, memory, devotion, and identity.

TheGlitz Verdict

The Kalyanaraman family’s Navaratri celebration has evolved into a cultural moment—where myth meets modernity and sacred rituals coexist with cinematic sparkle. This wasn’t just another celebrity-studded soirée; it was a deeply layered homage to India’s spiritual heritage, brought to life through artful storytelling, devotion-led design, and carefully curated symbolism. With Kailash Parvat, Sapta Matrikas, and the vibrant Bommai Kolu at its core, the evening reminded guests—and the country—that tradition isn’t static, it evolves. And in the Kalyanaraman home, it evolves with grace, grandeur, and God in the details. Once again, the family has delivered a celebration that is as intimate as it is iconic.

And under a moonlit Thrissur sky, the stars aligned… both celestial and cinematic. Karisma Kapoor glowed in understated elegance, while Tabu brought her signature quiet glamour. Akshay Kumar, Nagarjuna, and Malaika Arora added gravitas and sparkle in equal measure. Genelia Deshmukh charmed with her effervescence, Sreeleela and Kalyani Priyadarshan brought youthful radiance, and Jayaram and Parvathy lit up the evening with warmth and grace. Kalidas Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, and Suchitra Mohanlal carried forward their cinematic legacy with poise, while Shriya Pilgaonkar, Malavika Mohanan, and Sayami Kher turned heads with effortless style. Together, they didn’t just attend, they became part of the mythology being retold.
