What are the top skincare trends in 2025 that you foresee taking center stage especially with the rise of holistic beauty?
Dr. Shefali: With the dawn of 2025, the concept of skin health has become popular. People are looking for an organic skincare routine using only natural ingredients and avoiding all harmful chemicals. There is better focus on skincare from an early age with ecofriendly products being the general mantra of the patients. As a result, hydration of skin with hyaluronic acid serums and ceramide rich creams are being accepted widely. Along with applications, intake of good nutraceuticals for healthy skin is also one of the mantras of 2025.
How do you see the balance between dermatology and technology evolving? Are there any groundbreaking skincare innovations or treatments that we should look out for?

Dr. Shefali: A lot of advancements have been observed in the field of dermatology with regards to technology. Online consultations have been a mainstay in many clinics even after the Covid epidemic ceased. Virtual consultations and follow ups help the patients access dermatological care from anywhere.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is being used to create algorithms that can analyze data and help doctors identify skin conditions. Many apps are being developed to monitor the patient and help them improve.
Some of the wonderful innovations observed in this new year will be formation of exosomes from ones own blood to help in anti-ageing and hair growth. Exosomes are emerging tools in regenerative medicine. They help by modulating immune responses, differentiation and tissue repair. In hair, exosomes regulate the cell proliferation, differentiation and survival of hair thus ultimately influencing hair growth cycle. In anti-ageing, it promotes collagen synthesis, hydration and improves the appearance of ageing skin.
Sustainability is a key trend across industries. how are eco-friendly ingredients and products shaping the future of skincare, what should consumers prioritize when choosing sustainable options?

Dr. Shefali: Eco-friendly products break down naturally in the environment reducing a lot of waste and pollution. Products containing natural ingredients are slow acting but are less likely to cause irritation and allergic reactions. People should select eco-friendly and cruelty-free skincare products. Synthetic ingredients like sulphates, parabens, artificial fragrances etc. harm the skin and hair leading to skin problems like irritation, allergies, hormonal disturbances, early ageing etc.
The trend of going under the knife to enhance beauty continues to rise. What is your perspective on surgical beauty enhancements versus non-invasive dermatological procedures ,and how do you see this trend evolving in the future?
Dr. Shefali: As per demand of patients, non-invasive dermatological procedures will be preferred more as they do not involve incisions and major tissue manipulation. Surgical procedures involve making incisions and altering underlying tissues to achieve desired results. It also involves anesthesia and longer recovery period. These procedures are ideal for individuals who want significant transformation.
As more consumers turn to preventive skincare, which treatments or habits do you believe will become non-negotiable for maintaining youthful healthy skin in 2025?
Dr. Shefali: In 2025, to maintain youthful healthy skin, one should not only take care of the homecare regime and regular follow ups with dermatologist for proper advice and treatments according to requirement but also take care of healthy eating habits, as the skin is a mirror of the body and any deficiency will definitely show effects on the skin, so a balanced diet is equally important for healthy skin.
The ‘skin’imalism trend, where less is more… is gaining momentum. what do you think are the essential products for a simplified yet effective skincare routine?
![](https://theglitz.media/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/istockphoto-1211404988-612x612-1.jpg)
Dr. Shefali: The essential products for an effective skincare routine should include hydration and sun protection as the ageing of skin is hastened due to excessive UV rays exposure (laptop, mobile). According to me, 60% of your skincare is sun protection and hydration, rest is your facewash and daily cream as per the skin type.
