When it comes to haircare innovation, Ritu Vijayvergiya doesn’t just toe mane trends, she teases them, colors outside the lines, and gives the hair industry a serious glow-up. As the co-founder of 2.Oh!, this strand-savvy entrepreneur is on a mission to help India let its hair down… vibrantly, healthily, and unapologetically.

With roots in brilliance and tresses of experience, Ritu (along with her equally hair-raisingly amazing sister Roohi) brought to life a brand that ‘dyes’ to be different. Think Italian-made, Indian-designed semi-permanent hair color that skips the brass and brings the sass, with Argan Oil and Sunflower Seed Extracts working overtime to hydrate every hue.

From whisper-soft pastels to bold vivids and rich browns, Ritu’s formula for success is equal parts science and style. And just when you thought she was done, she lathered on a full haircare range… shampoos, masks, leave-ins, and serums that truly repair, not just split hairs over it.

Whether she’s flipping the script on beauty standards or turning bad hair days into bold statements, Ritu Vijayvergiya proves that every great hair moment begins with a woman who won’t brush off brilliance. So sit back, let your hair down, and get ready for a tête-à-tête that’s as rich and smooth as a post-mask shine…because Sumita Chakraborty, Editor-in-chief, TheGlitz is combing through all the juicy details with the queen of silky coifs herself… Ritu Vijayvergiya!

You have a diverse background, from finance to defence supplies and now the beauty industry. What sparked your transition into the world of fashion and beauty, and how did your previous experiences shape your approach to 2.Oh!?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – Well, each of these aspects of my professional life have taught me some very important lessons that you cannot learn in a classroom. I began my career in finance, a natural progression following my education. I then joined our family business in defence aircraft supplies — a completely different world, but one that taught me how to run a business, make quick decisions, and manage complexity under pressure.

However, through it all, both my sister and I always shared a long-standing love for beauty and fashion, and we wanted to build something together in that space, bringing together our diverse experiences. So, when the time felt right, we took the plunge — not just to start a brand, but to fill a clear gap we saw in the Indian market: high performance, globally formulated haircare that actually works for Indian hair. That’s how 2.Oh! came to life.

As a Co-Founder of 2.Oh!, you’ve introduced global haircare trends to India. What do you think are some unique challenges when adapting international beauty trends to the Indian market?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – The first challenge is formulation. What works internationally doesn’t always work for India. We have different hair types, weather conditions and lifestyles here. So, we don’t just bring products in but work closely with global labs to create formulations from scratch, made specifically to suit Indian needs. Whether it’s frizz control, oily scalps, or dealing with hard water, our products are built around problems Indian consumers face every day.

The second challenge is perception. It takes time to convince customers that an Indian brand can match — or exceed — international standards. But the moment they experience the product, the texture, the results, and the ingredients, there’s a visible shift in how they see us. That trust, once earned, becomes our biggest strength.

You are passionate about understanding consumer products and business models. Can you share a specific moment or product innovation at 2.Oh! that you felt truly resonated with your target audience?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – From the very beginning, we knew we didn’t want to launch ‘just another’ haircare range. Each product had to solve a specific problem — and do it well. One of our first strong responses was to our Reconstruction range. Customers came back saying their hair felt genuinely better — not just smoother, but stronger and more manageable. And it wasn’t just the shampoo or the mask — it was the way the range worked together, like a routine that delivered results.

That pattern has repeated across our lineup — from our color to our styling spray. We build every formula with intent, and our customers notice. For us, that’s the biggest win — when someone doesn’t just buy a product, but comes back to build their entire routine around 2.Oh!

Having spent years in high-stakes industries like finance and defence, how do you maintain a work-life balance, and how has your love for gardening influenced your approach to business and creativity?

Ritu Vijayvergiya

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – Work-life balance isn’t always easy, especially for an entrepreneur. There are constant demands and we’re constantly being pulled in every direction. What helps me is having structure — a routine to keep me focused and grounded. And of course, a supportive family makes a world of difference. They’re the sounding board and support system that keep everything moving forward.

Gardening, for me, is a quiet break from everything else. It’s not elaborate, but it gives me time to disconnect, reflect, and refocus. I think everyone needs something outside of work that brings a sense of calm — something that reminds you to slow down once in a while.

As an avid fitness enthusiast, do you think there’s a connection between personal well- being (physical and mental) and how one approaches beauty and skincare?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – Absolutely — wellness and beauty are deeply linked. My fitness routine is more than a physical habit; it’s a way of staying balanced, present, and emotionally clear. That one hour of movement sets the tone for the rest of my day. I feel stronger, more focused, and much more in tune withmy body. And yes, it shows. When I’m regular with my workouts, my skin is healthier, my hair feels better, and I carry more energy into everything I do — including how I care for myself. Beauty isn’t just about external products; it’s also about how you treat yourself from within.

With 2.Oh! making waves in the Indian haircare industry, where do you see the brand in the next five years, and how do you plan to stay ahead of the curve in such a competitive market?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – Well, we’ve come a long way since we first entered the Indian market in 2022, but we still have so much more to achieve, learn and grow! In the next five years, we want 2.Oh! to be the go-to brand for anyone serious about hair care — whether they’re looking to repair damage, protect color, or style smarter. We want people to know us as the brand that delivers visible results, powered by thoughtful, performance-led formulations.

The one USP that I’m confident will keep us ahead is that our innovations are rooted in science. Every formula we create is backed by performance-driven ingredients, developed in collaboration with cutting-edge labs in Italy. We are also very connected to our customers — understanding their real concerns and developing solutions that truly make a difference. That’s what defines us, and that’s what will continue to guide us forward.

In your view, what has been the most significant shift in consumer behavior when it comes to beauty products in recent years, especially in India?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder, 2.Oh! – The biggest shift? Awareness! Consumers now read labels, look up ingredients, and ask smart questions. They want performance, transparency, and value. And they’re willing to invest in good products — not just as luxury, but as a part of their daily self-care. That mindset shift is huge. People are no longer passive buyers — they want to be informed and involved. As a brand, you have to rise to that expectation — or be left behind.

You’ve created an impact on both the business and beauty fronts. If you had to give one piece of advice to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to make their mark in the beauty industry, what would it be?

Ritu Vijayvergiya, Co-Founder,2.Oh! – Don’t wait for perfect — just begin. But once you do, give it everything. Learn constantly, stay curious, and lean on people when needed. Passion will take you far, but consistency and humility will take you further and remember — it’s a long game. Some days will test you, others will reward you. Keep showing up!
