Olive Green, Mustard Yellow & Burnt OrangeLuxury Interiors

For years, cool greys and understated neutrals dominated the world of interiors, creating spaces that were minimalist, sophisticated and timeless. But every design era eventually gives way to a new mood, and today, homes are embracing warmth, personality and a deeper connection with nature. Rich shades of olive green, mustard yellow and burnt orange are quietly transforming contemporary interiors, bringing with them, an inviting sense of comfort, balance and understated luxury.

At TheGlitz, we believe that great interiors should do more than look beautiful… they should tell a story, evoke emotion and reflect the people who live within them. As the world moves towards slower, more mindful living, these earthy hues are becoming the palette of choice for homeowners seeking spaces that feel both elegant and deeply personal.

Sumita Chakraborty, Founder & Editor-in-chief, TheGlitz speaks to Gaurav Jain, Founder and Creative Director of Orange Tree, to understand why nature-inspired colours are making such a powerful comeback and how they can be incorporated into modern homes with timeless sophistication.

After years of neutral palettes dominating interiors, we’re seeing a strong shift towards earthy hues like olive green, mustard yellow and burnt orange. Why do you think homeowners are gravitating towards these warmer, nature-inspired colours, and how do they influence the mood and personality of a space?

Driven by a desire for emotional grounding and restorative sanctuaries at home, 2026 has evolved towards the ‘post grey era’, with nature-inspired palettes in interiors taking centre stage. As homes increasingly serve as spaces for work, relaxation, and connection, consumers are seeking interiors that evoke calm and comfort.

This trend stems from a broader cultural shift toward mindful and balanced living. Globally, summer trends are seeing a revival of sun-drenched palettes inspired by nature, with hues of olive green, mustard yellow, and burnt orange taking the spotlight. Choosing these tones represents an intentional effort to disconnect from screens and visually reconnect with the natural world.

Olive green, mustard yellow and burnt orange can be bold choices when used incorrectly. How would you recommend incorporating these colours into modern homes so they feel timeless and elegant rather than trend-driven? Are there particular materials, textures or design styles that work especially well with these shades?

Refreshing a space with earthy colour does not necessarily require replacing major furniture pieces. You can introduce these colours in measured doses without a complete makeover. One option is to add an accent furniture piece, such as an olive green Solace Day bed with Arm, a burnt orange occasional chair, or a mustard pouf to create focal points.

Second, refresh the room with lighting: a pendant or a charming table lamp, such as the Lueur Olive Green Mini Table Lamp, or even just a shade in these rich tones, can bring a warm, layered glow. Finally, style with accessories, including cushions, artworks, vases and decorative accents that meld with the existing colour scheme. A tempering of colour can also transform the mood and energy of the space.

TheGlitz Take

Luxury today is no longer defined by extravagance alone; it is measured by emotion, authenticity and the quiet beauty of spaces that nurture the soul. The modern home has evolved into a sanctuary… a place where comfort meets craftsmanship, where timeless design coexists with mindful living, and where every carefully chosen detail tells a personal story.

It is little wonder, then, that earthy hues such as olive green, mustard yellow and burnt orange are enjoying a remarkable resurgence. Inspired by forests, sunlit landscapes and autumnal warmth, these rich, grounding shades infuse interiors with depth, character, warmth and an effortless sophistication that transcends fleeting trends.

At TheGlitz, we see this return to nature’s palette as far more than a passing design movement. It reflects a growing desire to create homes that feel inviting, restorative and deeply lived-in… spaces layered with texture, artisanal craftsmanship and understated elegance rather than excess.

These earthy tones bring a sense of balance, serenity and timeless charm, transforming every room into a haven of refined luxury. Beautifully versatile and endlessly elegant, they are not simply colours of the moment… they are the enduring palette of a more conscious, soulful and sophisticated way of living.
