The Cranberry Institute with Global Brand Ambassador Chef Vikas Khanna

The Cranberry Institute: When Wellness Meets the Wow Factor

In a refined celebration of flavour, wellness, and global culinary dialogue, the India office of The Cranberry Institute hosted an exclusive media and trade gathering in Mumbai, marking the appointment of Chef Vikas Khanna as its Global Brand Ambassador. The afternoon brought together leading voices from the culinary fraternity, importers, retailers, nutrition experts, and media tastemakers for a sensory-rich exploration of the power of US cranberries. TheGlitz reports…

A Masterclass in Cranberry Creativity

Cranberry

The highlight of the event was a live culinary showcase by Chef Khanna, who demonstrated inventive ways to weave cranberries into both global and Indian cuisines. From bold savoury interpretations to everyday meal ideas, he revealed how the fruit moves effortlessly from festive tables to daily dining, adding brightness, texture, and nutrition. His presentation made a compelling case for cranberries as an ingredient that elevates without overwhelming.

Food with a Philosophy

Sharing his perspective, Chef Vikas Khanna reflected on the deeper meaning behind his culinary choices. “For me, food is about balance… nourishing the body while celebrating culture and joy,” he said. “Cranberries carry that balance beautifully. They are rich in health benefits, yet vibrant in taste and colour. I am honoured to partner with The Cranberry Institute to share their story across borders and inspire people to use cranberries in new and meaningful ways.”

The Science Behind the Superfruit

Beyond flavour, the gathering spotlighted new research underscoring the health potential of cranberries. Dr. Jignesh Gandhi, Professor of Surgery and Robotic & Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospitals and Fortis Hospitals, addressed the audience on the relevance of cranberry consumption in India. He noted that H. pylori infection affects nearly 60 percent of the population and is linked to conditions ranging from chronic acidity to gastric cancer.

A Natural Ally for Digestive Health

Dr. Gandhi explained that recent studies indicate consuming cranberry juice twice daily for eight weeks can reduce H. pylori infection rates by around 20 percent. “This offers a promising, natural, and complementary approach alongside conventional treatments,” he said, adding that wider adoption could improve patient compliance, help tackle antibiotic resistance, and positively impact the country’s healthcare ecosystem.

Why Vikas Khanna Was the Obvious Choice

Highlighting the partnership, Sumit Saran, India Representative for The Cranberry Institute, shared why Chef Khanna was the ideal ambassador. “Chef Vikas Khanna has elevated Indian cuisine on the global stage while inspiring countless food lovers,” he said. “His ability to seamlessly connect health, heritage, and gastronomy makes him the perfect voice for US cranberries.”

From Gourmet Kitchens to Home Tables

Mr. Saran also pointed out that US cranberries are now easily available across dry fruit stores and leading e-commerce platforms, making it simpler for consumers to bring this versatile ingredient into everyday cooking.

TheGlitz Take

With curated tastings, thoughtful exchanges, and an unmistakable sense of purpose rounding off the afternoon, the event reflected a larger shift in how cranberry is being viewed today… no longer as mere indulgence, but as a meaningful intersection of wellness, culture, and creativity.

Hosted by the India office of The Cranberry Institute, the gathering underscored how ingredients can tell stories far beyond the plate, carrying both nutritional integrity and emotional resonance. From chefs and health experts to retailers and tastemakers, conversations revolved around conscious eating, functional foods, and the growing desire for ingredients that nourish without compromising on pleasure.

With Chef Vikas Khanna championing their cause, US cranberries emerged as the perfect symbol of this evolution… ibrant, versatile, and rooted in science yet rich in soul. As they make their way from gourmet kitchens to everyday Indian homes, this super food is poised to become a health-forward staple, effortlessly balancing flavour, function, and finesse while redefining how modern India eats, celebrates, and connects through food.
