Long considered a lowbrow spirit, today tequila is one of the most popular libations in the world. You may remember tequila shots and margaritas featured in cinemas as the stuff that fueled your desire, but there’s more to this blue agave-fueled liquor whose history spans almost 400 years.
Most of us associate tequila shots with wild nights during college, doing something stupid enough to regret the next morning with a terrible hangover to boot. The customary practice of licking salt before and sucking a lemon wedge after the shot was to make up for the complex taste. As such, the ritual of licking, shooting, and sucking became more primal than the tequila itself. Charming it was, and those were the days.
Though tequila still continues to reign as a party drink, aggressive multi-level marketing has earned it a position in the pantheon of globally recognised cocktail recipes, from Margaritas and Sunrises to Palomas and Negronis. If you’re a tequila lover like we are at TheGlitz, then gear up, because not only is it National Tequila Day on July 24, but we have some fascinating Dos Flamos tequila based cocktails to add fun to your party.
INTRODUCING DOS FLAMOS TEQUILA
The name directly translates to “twin flames.” Dos Flamos is inspired by a narrative from old Mexican folklore about soulmates and their love stories. The volcano signifies the lovers’ passion, with the eruption representing their final union. Produced by La Cofradia, Dos Flamos has been distilled in the heart of Jalisco for over half a century, using the finest Agave and age-old distilling traditions. Tequilas from Jalisco’s highlands are sweet with mineral, fruit, and floral notes.
