Sometimes real stories have more impact than fictionalized ones as is the case of the film Ajay Wardhan that was released today. This biopic drama based on Dr. Ajay Aryan, a dental surgeon whose struggles and challenges in life – from being a poor goat herder in Haryana to becoming one of the biggest dental surgeons in India – has been captured quite well on celluloid via the film Ajay Wardhan. The film has a parallel plot of a love story too which wins hearts.
Ajay Wardhan Works Because…
Ajay Wardhan essayed by Romil Chaudhary touches a chord simply because of Chaudhary’s impactful performance that transitions extremely well through each traumatic change in his life – whether it is as a simple village boy who enters a big city college, falling in love with the beautiful daughter of a rich man, losing her and catapulting into a dark zone and then rising again to regain all that he lost. Romil Chaudhary impresses – his personality is dynamic and his deep baritone voice, truly nuanced and excellent.
The film at parts is a bit inconsistent but manages to pull through only because of Romil Chaudhary’s sincere performance. The female lead Pihu Sharma is just about okay, while Vijay (Kshitij Patwardhan) is good in his limited role. The rest of the cast is passable. Though the direction by Pragati Agarwal is strictly okay, the cinematography is absolutely amazing as it captures all the beautiful nuances of pristine Haryana. The music too could have been a little better though the title track ‘O Surgeon’ and Naina Naina are quite hummable.
Our Verdict: Ajay Wardhan…
Performance-wise, Romil Chaudhary stands head and shoulder above the rest – he is sincere and it shows in his acting. All in all, do watch Ajay Wardhan – it’s indeed a good effort.
