Ridhi Garg, Designer and her Husn-e-Jahan collection

Fashion is at its most beautiful when it becomes part of life’s most cherished memories. Designer Ridhi Garg is a firm believer of this, in fact, more than creating exquisite garments, she designs myriad emotions… those fleeting yet unforgettable moments of laughter during a haldi ceremony, the sparkle of a mehendi afternoon, the magic of a destination wedding, and the quiet confidence a woman feels when she slips into an outfit that makes her feel truly herself.

With her latest festive and occasion-wear collection, Husn-e-Jahan, Ridhi invites women into a world where timeless Indian craftsmanship meets contemporary elegance. Inspired by the vibrant spirit of Indian celebrations, the collection is a poetic blend of luminous hues, painterly florals, sculptural corsets, delicate hand embroidery and fluid silhouettes that celebrate not only tradition but also the evolving lifestyle of today’s woman. Every ensemble is designed to move effortlessly with her, allowing her to celebrate with grace, confidence and comfort.

For Ridhi, couture has never been about following trends. Instead, it is about preserving the artistry of India’s rich textile heritage while reimagining it for a new generation of women who seek authenticity, versatility and effortless sophistication. Her philosophy is beautifully simple: luxury should not only be seen… it should be felt. Every stitch, every handcrafted motif and every silhouette is thoughtfully created to honour the artisans behind the craft while empowering the women who wear her creations.

What makes Husn-e-Jahan particularly special is its celebration of every woman who brings an Indian wedding to life. Beyond the bride, the collection embraces sisters, mothers, bridesmaids and friends… the women who laugh, dance, celebrate and create memories that become as precious as the wedding itself. It is couture designed not just for grand entrances but for meaningful moments that linger long after the festivities are over.

In an exclusive interview with Sumita Chakraborty, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, TheGlitz, Ridhi Garg, Designer, spotlights her latest collection Husn-e-Jahan, and opens up about her inspiring journey into fashion, the philosophy behind her latest collection, her passion for preserving India’s rich craftsmanship, and why she believes true luxury lies in creating garments that make every woman feel confident, comfortable and beautifully herself. Elegant, heartfelt and deeply rooted in tradition while embracing the spirit of modern femininity, her designs are a celebration of joy woven into every thread.

Over to Ridhi Garg, Designer, Husn-e-Jahan collection

Husn-e-Jahan

Could you tell us about your journey? What made you want to be a designer? Any challenges that you faced and overcame?

Fashion was never a career I planned on paper. It was something I naturally gravitated towards. I’ve always been fascinated by the way clothing can make someone feel, especially during life’s biggest celebrations. Growing up, I found myself paying attention to fabrics, colours, embroidery, and the little details that most people would probably overlook. Over time, that curiosity became a passion, and eventually, it became Ridhi Garg Designs.

Like every entrepreneur, there were moments of uncertainty. Building trust, finding the right artisans, maintaining quality while growing, and staying true to my aesthetic weren’t always easy. But every challenge pushed me to become more patient and more intentional. Looking back, I’m grateful for that journey because it shaped not just the brand, but me as a designer. Today, nothing feels more rewarding than seeing a woman choose one of our creations for a milestone she’ll remember forever.

The name Husn-e-Jahan evokes beauty, celebration and timeless elegance. What inspired this collection, and what story did you want every ensemble to tell?

Husn-e-Jahan translates to “the beauty of the world,” but for me, that beauty has always existed in people and the emotions they carry through life’s celebrations.

When I started designing this collection, I wasn’t thinking about trends. I was thinking about moments. The excitement before a wedding, the laughter with family, the quiet confidence someone feels when they look in the mirror before stepping out. I wanted every outfit to become a small part of those memories. More than anything, I wanted every woman wearing Husn-e-Jahan to feel seen, beautiful, and completely herself.

Rather than focusing solely on the bride, Husn-e-Jahan celebrates every joyful moment surrounding an Indian wedding. Why was that important?

I’ve always believed that an Indian wedding belongs to everyone, not just the bride.

Some of the most beautiful memories happen away from the mandap. They’re in the haldi where everyone is laughing, the sangeet rehearsals, late night conversations with cousins, getting ready together, or simply sharing little moments with family. Those are the memories we carry for years.

That’s why I wanted Husn-e-Jahan to celebrate every woman who’s part of that journey, whether she’s the bride, her sister, her mother, or her closest friend. Every woman deserves to feel just as special during those moments.

Your collection beautifully blends traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes. How do you strike that balance?

I’ve never looked at heritage and modernity as two opposite ideas. I think they naturally complement each other.

I’m deeply inspired by Indian craftsmanship because every embroidery technique carries generations of skill and tradition. At the same time, today’s woman has a very different lifestyle. She wants silhouettes that feel lighter, more effortless, and true to her personality.

For me, the goal is never to modernise tradition for the sake of it. It’s about presenting our heritage in a way that feels relevant today while preserving the artistry that makes it so special.

How has Husn-e-Jahan been designed for today’s woman?

Women today don’t want to choose between looking beautiful and feeling comfortable. They want both, and honestly, they deserve both.

While designing Husn-e-Jahan, I paid a lot of attention to fabrics, movement, and fit because celebrations are meant to be enjoyed, not endured. Whether someone is dancing through a sangeet or attending a long wedding ceremony, I want her to feel confident without constantly thinking about her outfit.

To me, luxury isn’t just about intricate craftsmanship. It’s also about ease, comfort, and how effortlessly a woman carries herself.

Which design element or signature piece holds a special place in your heart?

Without a doubt, it’s hand embroidery.

Every embroidered motif carries countless hours of patience and craftsmanship, and that’s something I deeply value. Behind every finished outfit are artisans who pour their skill and heart into every detail, and I think that’s what gives each piece its soul.

If I had to choose one favourite from the collection, it would be our lake inspired lehenga. There’s something incredibly serene about it. The colours, textures, and detailing perfectly capture the soft, romantic feeling I wanted Husn-e-Jahan to evoke.

How do you see festive couture evolving over the next few years?

I think women are becoming much more mindful about what they invest in.

Instead of buying something they’ll wear once, they’re looking for pieces that feel timeless and can be styled differently across occasions. Comfort has also become just as important as craftsmanship, which I think is a wonderful shift.

At Ridhi Garg Designs, that’s exactly where our philosophy lies. We want to create couture that’s rooted in Indian craftsmanship but designed for the way women celebrate today. Pieces that stay in their wardrobe long after the wedding photographs are taken.

If Husn-e-Jahan were an emotion rather than a collection, what would it be?

It would be a joy.

Not the loud kind, but the quiet joy that comes from feeling confident, surrounded by the people you love, and creating memories you’ll look back on years later.

That’s what I hope every woman feels when she wears one of our creations. I don’t just want her to think she looks beautiful. I want her to feel comfortable, confident, and completely herself. Because when a woman truly feels like herself, that’s when she looks her most beautiful.
