Amit Aggarwal’s AM.IT X Lakmē Fashion Week Grand Finale

What happens when the workday ends but the woman doesn’t? She changes gears. Well, it’s official! At the Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI’s Grand Finale, Amit Aggarwal’s prêt label AM.IT is turning that very transition into fashion. On October 18, at New Delhi’s Taj Palace, the designer will bring his latest AM.IT collection to the runway, exploring the delicious space between the discipline of the 9-to-5 and the expressive freedom that begins after five. TheGlitz sees it as fashion’s answer to the modern woman’s most seamless transformation… from work mode to after-hours allure.

From Desk to Drama

The premise is wonderfully contemporary. The modern woman rarely has the luxury of going home, changing completely and starting her evening from scratch. Her day simply shifts. A meeting ends, a dinner begins. The laptop closes, cocktails appear. The office gives way to a celebration.

Lakmē 9to5’s “5PM Glam Reset” taps directly into that reality, while AM.IT translates it through fashion. Structure begins to soften. Tailoring loosens. Colour becomes more assertive. Texture starts doing the talking.

The result promises a wardrobe designed not around separate versions of a woman, but around the many moods she moves through in a single day.

Sunanda Khaitan, CMO, Beauty & Wellbeing, HUL, said, “Lakmē 9to5 has always mirrored the real pulse of a woman’s life, acknowledging that her energy shifts across the day, especially past 5 PM. Partnering with Amit Aggarwal for the Grand Finale allows us to decode that transition on the runway. Through his structured yet fluid silhouettes, the showcase explores how high-concept couture adapts to the modern rhythm.”

Adding, “The collection seamlessly mirrors our new Lakmē 9to5 Hya Glam range, which brings skin
hydrating, high-octane glow to match the versatility of clothing that shifts effortlessly from work to play. Together, we are decoding the ultimate ‘5PM Glam Reset,’ proving that beauty and fashion can work in tandem to make every evening reset effortless, expressive, and undeniably bold.”

Amit Aggarwal and AM.IT Re-enters the Everyday

Amit Aggarwal, Founder and Creative Director, AM.IT

Amit Aggarwal, Founder and Creative Director, AM.IT says, “AM:IT has always existed in the space between what something is and what it could become. Its revival is a return to that instinct; taking the research, experimentation and material language of Amit Aggarwal couture and allowing it to move into a more immediate, everyday wardrobe.

For Amit Aggarwal, AM.IT represents a return to an instinct he has explored through years of couture — taking research, experimentation and an intensely material-driven design language and allowing it to enter a more immediate, everyday wardrobe.

That makes this collection particularly intriguing. Moreso as Amit Aggarwal is known for clothes that can feel almost sculptural, with material, surface and construction becoming part of the drama. AM.IT appears to ask what happens when that sensibility is loosened without losing its DNA.

In his words, the collection exists between “what something is and what it could become.” That is perhaps the perfect philosophy for a 5PM wardrobe.

India, Seen Differently

The visual starting point is not some distant fantasy of glamour. It is everyday India.

Craft. Concrete. Colour. Utility. Ornament. Texture.

Aggarwal draws from these seemingly ordinary fragments and turns them into a visual archive, allowing them to influence proportion, colour, material and form.

This is where the collection could become more than another work-to-evening fashion proposition. Instead of simply adding sparkle to officewear, AM.IT appears to be investigating how Indian visual culture can quietly infiltrate contemporary dressing.

A familiar silhouette can acquire another personality through colour. A structured garment can become fluid. A utilitarian reference can suddenly feel luxurious.

Beauty Gets Its Own 5PM Moment

The fashion story will be accompanied by Lakmē 9to5’s beauty proposition, particularly its new Hya Glam range, built around hydration and high-impact glow.

The idea is straightforward but increasingly relevant: beauty, like clothing, has to keep up with a woman whose day refuses to stay in one lane.

Lakmē’s “Glam Reset” therefore becomes the beauty counterpart to AM.IT’s sartorial transformation — a quick shift in finish, texture and attitude rather than a complete reinvention.

The Woman Doesn’t Change. Her Energy Does.

That line from Amit Aggarwal perhaps captures the collaboration best.

Because the most interesting idea here isn’t the familiar fashion fantasy of transforming from office woman to party woman. It is the rejection of that split altogether.

The woman remains the same. The clothes simply reveal another side.

At the Lakmē Grand Finale on October 18, AM.IT promises to turn that philosophy into movement, colour, texture and silhouette — taking the audience from the precision of the working day into the possibility of the evening.

And if Amit Aggarwal gets the balance right, 5PM may just become fashion’s most exciting hour.

TheGlitz Take

The 5PM wardrobe change is indeed overdue for an upgrade. We don’t become different women when the workday ends… we simply stop dressing for the rules of the day. That is where AM.IT gets interesting. Amit Aggarwal isn’t merely adding evening glamour to officewear; he is challenging the rather tired idea that sophistication must be structured and glamour must be reserved for after dark. The Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI Grand Finale has once again found the perfect fashion conversation… where beauty, ambition and after-hours glamour meet on the runway.
