Prempatra and The Westin Pune

What happens when the romance of Banaras meets contemporary couture, cocktails flow beneath the stars, and dinner becomes part of the fashion show? You get Lagan – Riwaz Naye Purane, an immersive wedding showcase by The Westin Pune Koregaon Park and designer Shruti Singh Mahadev‘s Prempatra. Held on the hotel’s expansive lawns, the October 10 soirée brought together fashion, craftsmanship, music and gastronomy in a celebration that moved beyond the conventional runway.

With Marathi actors Bhushan Pradhan and Sayali Patil adding cinematic charm as showstoppers, the evening reimagined the luxury wedding experience as a sensory journey. TheGlitz explores how Banaras-inspired couture found a glamorous new stage.

Banaras After Dark: Couture with a Cultural Soul

The Westin

At the heart of the evening was Banaras After Dark, Prempatra’s collection inspired by the textiles, old-world romance and cultural richness of Banaras, interpreted through a contemporary wedding aesthetic.

For Shruti Singh Mahadev, Founder and Designer of Prempatra, the collection was deeply personal.

“Being from Banaras, I have always been surrounded by its extraordinary textiles, its old-world charm and the stories woven into its craft. With Banaras After Dark, I wanted to capture the city’s spirit – its romance, richness and quiet grandeur – while creating something that feels relevant to the contemporary Indian wedding wardrobe. Every weave and embroidered detail carries a piece of our heritage, and I wanted guests to experience that beauty beyond the clothes, through the artisans, the textures and the stories behind them,” said Shruti Singh Mahadev, Founder and Designer, Prempatra.

Rich textiles, intricate embroidery and statement silhouettes brought traditional artistry into conversation with modern dressing. Rather than treating heritage as a nostalgic reference, the collection explored how its textures, techniques and visual richness could be reinterpreted for contemporary celebrations.

Bhushan Pradhan and Sayali Patil Bring the Romance

Marathi actors Bhushan Pradhan and Sayali Patil took centre stage as showstoppers, lending the presentation an easy cinematic appeal. Their appearance complemented the collection’s romantic mood, evoking the charm of a modern Indian wedding while keeping the focus on the clothes.

The setting added to the drama. Décor partner Linkin Minds transformed the hotel’s 30,000-square-foot lawns with candlelit corners, rustic furniture and rich textiles, creating an open-air environment that moved away from the conventional fashion-show format.

Live Hindustani music, artisanal cocktails and demonstrations of Kantha and Zardozi embroidery brought Prempatra’s world to life. Colourful bangles, fragrant ittar and fresh gajras completed the sensory experience, celebrating the rituals and details that make Indian weddings so evocative.

From Runway to Dinner Table: Fashion Gets Intimate

The evening’s cleverest styling decision was to let fashion travel beyond the runway. Following the opening presentation, guests moved to a grand dining table beneath glowing chandeliers, where the collection’s richer, more traditional looks appeared amid the tablescape.

This shift transformed the relationship between the audience and the clothes. Instead of observing from a distance, guests experienced the garments at close quarters, surrounded by the textures, flavours and atmosphere that informed the evening.

A Culinary Narrative Worth Savouring

The four-course dinner, curated by Rajdeep Rana, EAM – Food & Beverage, and his culinary team, brought regional flavours into a polished hospitality setting.

The menu moved from chilled young corn and millet to tandoori asparagus with morel, followed by vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings including Gucchi Nadar Yakhini, Meen Moilee and Nihari Taftan, served with pulao.

“In an Indian wedding, the meal is the moment when everyone finally sits down together, so it has to be memorable. For Lagan, we wanted to honour the flavours families grow up with, while presenting them in a way that feels new. Every couple we work with starts with a conversation and a tasting, and we build the menu around their family, their region and their guests,” said Rajdeep Rana, EAM – Food & Beverage, The Westin Pune Koregaon Park.

Dessert provided the evening’s theatrical finale. In a chefs’ walk, the hotel’s culinary team made a striking entrance, each chef carrying a dessert creation to the table in a procession celebrating the creativity and teamwork behind exceptional hospitality.

The Westin Pune: Wedding Hospitality Reimagined

For The Westin Pune Koregaon Park, Lagan – Riwaz Naye Purane was also an opportunity to reconnect with wedding curators and demonstrate how fashion, food, décor and service can work together to create a cohesive celebration.

“Weddings have been part of The Westin Pune Koregaon Park since the day we opened, and every one of them has taught us that the best celebrations are built together. With Lagan, we wanted to bring our partners – planners, designers, decorators and our own culinary team – around one table, and show what becomes possible when everyone brings their very best.

“From Prempatra’s artistry to our chefs’ finale, every element was curated to inspire. Our aspiration is simple: to be the place where families bring their vision to life, with warm hospitality, impeccable attention to detail and moments their guests will remember long after the celebration,” said Victor Chen, General Manager, The Westin Pune Koregaon Park.

“Wedding curators are among our most valued partners, and Lagan was our way of showing them, rather than telling them, what a wedding at The Westin Pune Koregaon Park can be. Our 30,000 sq. ft. of lawns are a rare canvas in the city. Together with our newly renovated rooms and suites, including some of the largest guest rooms in Pune, and a culinary team that designs every menu around the family, we can host every chapter of a wedding with the same care. This evening marks the beginning of deeper collaborations with the wedding community, and we look forward to creating many more celebrations together,” said Nishtha Ghosh, Director of Sales & Marketing, The Westin Pune Koregaon Park.

TheGlitz Take

Lagan – Riwaz Naye Purane offered a refreshing alternative to the predictable luxury wedding showcase. Prempatra brought Banaras-inspired craftsmanship and contemporary couture to the forefront, while The Westin Pune Koregaon Park demonstrated how hospitality can become part of the creative narrative. The standout idea was making the dinner table an extension of the runway. That’s because when fashion, food and craft share the spotlight, a wedding showcase becomes more than an event: it becomes an experience designed to linger in the memory.
