Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green

As the calendar shifts through the second half of October, breast cancer awareness efforts often dwindle a tad, but for many, the fight continues. This year, a unique and powerful initiative, Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green, takes center stage. It’s a campaign that not only continues to raise awareness about breast cancer but also champions sustainable living – a dual call to action that intertwines health and wellness with environmental consciousness.

Driven by the passion and dedication of journalist and author Manju Ramanan, this campaign has touched lives across Dubai and beyond, resonating with people from various nationalities and backgrounds.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Manju shares, “It is a decade since the cancer awareness campaign started with support from cancer warriors, friends, colleagues, sponsors, hotels, and benevolent people. From The Beauty Connections Spa, to Danube Home, to Radisson Blu, The Crown Plaza, Dubai Marina, to Gargash Hospital, the campaign has travelled and inspired a cross section of people who have cheered for the brave women with breast cancer. This year it is called Beyond October: Think Pink. Live Green, making a case for clean living and sustainability.”

The journey of this campaign has been an inspiring testament to human resilience. What started as an effort to support women battling breast cancer has evolved into a broader movement – one that not only seeks to raise awareness about this life-threatening disease but also emphasizes the importance of sustainable living. The message is clear: wellness goes hand in hand with a clean, green lifestyle. By taking care of the environment, we ultimately take care of ourselves.

A Celebration of Courage and Sustainability

This year, Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green will be hosted at the Dubai International Arts Centre (@diacjumeirah), where attendees will be welcomed to an eco-souk presented by @your.eco.souq. The event will feature eco-friendly products, promoting green living and the importance of sustainability in everyday life.

Innara is supporting Beyond October: Think Pink, Live Green as their CSR initiative and they will have pottery classes at the event for attendees to express their unique sensibilities. Guests can also participate in pottery workshops led by @innaradxb, where they can engage in a creative, hands-on activity that serves as a reminder of the beauty of earth-friendly practices.

Your Eco Souk, a Souk of eco friendly products will support the event making a case for sustainability and clean living. Guddi Bajaj, Founder, Innara and Barkha Bahirwani, have been active partners to enhance Beyond October ‘s initiative.

However, at the heart of this event is the celebration of the incredible strength of breast cancer warriors. These brave women have faced some of life’s toughest battles, and the campaign serves as a tribute to their courage. Their stories, shared during the event, will undoubtedly inspire everyone present, as they highlight not only their personal victories but also the importance of ongoing awareness and support for breast cancer survivors.

“Come, celebrate the lives of my truly courageous women who have fought the biggest battles of their lives!” Manju urges, encouraging everyone to stand together in solidarity for those who continue to face the challenges of breast cancer.
