Festivals of harvest

As winter softens and the sun begins its northward journey, India bursts into celebration. From the crackle of bonfires at Lohri, to the golden harvest joy of Makar Sankranthi, the earthy rhythms of Tussu Parab, and the vibrant festivities of Pongal and Bihu, these festivals honour abundance, gratitude, and renewal. They are moments when communities come together, traditions take centre stage, and age-old rituals glow with contemporary relevance.

At TheGlitz, we celebrate these festivals not just as dates on a calendar, but as living expressions of culture, craft, food, and faith… where heritage meets joy and every celebration tells a story of togetherness, prosperity, and hope. Here’s presenting TheGlitz Harvest festivals

Winter on a Plate: Folk’s Harvest Menu Celebrates India’s Slow, Soulful Cold-Season Cooking

At Folk, Chef Jasleen Marwah ushers in winter with a thoughtfully curated Harvest Menu that brings together India’s cold-season traditions through dishes rooted in patience, memory and community. Drawing from regional kitchens across the country, the menu reflects how winter food is shaped by climate, ritual and everyday life, offering a comforting spread designed to be savoured slowly. “Winter food, for me, has always been about patience and care. These are dishes that take time, meant to be shared slowly and eaten with intention,” says Chef Jasleen.

The menu opens with Chutagi, a nourishing Ladakhi soup of wheat dumplings and winter vegetables, alongside rustic preparations like Topli nu Saag with Parsi topli nu paneer, citrus-forward Topli nu Salad and bright Amrud Ki Chaat made with seasonal pink guavas.

Smoky Litti Chokha from Bihar, langar-inspired Ma Choleya di Daal and the fermented winter drink Kanji add depth and balance, while Strawberry Lassi and Mulled Apple Kahwa infused with warming spices bring comfort in every sip. Desserts lean into winter nostalgia with slow-cooked Gajrela and a festive Christmas Trifle Pudding. True to Folk’s ethos, the menu is not about excess but intention… an invitation to slow down, eat mindfully and reconnect with India’s seasonal wisdom, one bowl and one cup at a time.
