Persian Darbar

TheGlitz was recently invited to review the iconic Persian Darbar restaurant in Andheri East, Mumbai and we couldn’t have picked a better way to spend a balmy Saturday evening. With its reputation for legendary Mughlai and North Indian fare, we expected crowds and sure enough, the restaurant was buzzing with hungry patrons. But despite the weekend rush, the ever-gracious staff made sure we were comfortably seated within thirty minutes. And once we were in, it was a flavour-packed journey that delivered on every promise. TheGlitz review…

Food Paradise: Persian Darbar

Stepping inside Persian Darbar, the ambience whispered of regal grandeur with a contemporary edge. Plush seating, soft lighting, ornate décor… the setting felt like the perfect stage to showcase feasts fit for royalty. It was cozy yet grand, intimate yet spacious, setting the tone for what would become an indulgent escape.

Mouth-watering Kebabs & More

Chicken Lebnani Kebab
Chicken Jalandari Tawa Masala

Let’s talk food… the showstopper. We began our edible exploration with Chicken Lebnani Kebab… juicy, fragrant, with hints of spice and smoke that teased your taste buds on entry. Next up, Chicken Jalandari Tawa Masala sashayed onto the stage… tender pieces of chicken lounging in a rich, tangy, robust gravy that sang of depth, slow roasting, and bold spices.

To pair, we couldn’t resist Missi Roti (a nutty, gram-flour-infused flatbread that crackles just so) and Garlic Naan, pillowy and warm, golden with butter and garlic. Each morsel became a scoop, a dip, a perfect vehicle for the gravies and kebabs we’d ordered. The generous helping of biryanis and curries were indeed also sumptuous and incredibly tasty.

We washed it all down with a refreshing Mango Mojito Mocktail… a sweet, breezy mirror to the intensity of the food, balancing the heat with juicy tropical comfort. Between the spice and the mocktail’s citrus-laced coolness, it felt like a well-choreographed dance on the palate.

And then… dessert. Enter Classic Cream Kunafa, dripping in sweet syrup and flattened threads of crisp pastry embracing melting cream. It was sin wrapped in crisp, a silky-syrupy crescendo that made us pause mid-bite and close our eyes in gratitude.

Each dish felt like a reinterpretation of a heritage tale or a cultural memory reimagined. From the smokiness of the kebabs, the mouth-watering biryanis to the lushness of the kunafa, it was heritage with an edge.

Service at Persian Darbar

Service was another star of the show. Despite the crowd, our server seemed clairvoyant: knowing when to refill, when to pause, when we were ready for the next course. There was no rush. There was respect. The staff never rushed us but carried the weight of a packed house with grace. We would especially like to thank Pankaj who made sure everything was set up just right for us.

TheGlitz Verdict

If Persian Darbar is a stage, then that Saturday was a full-blown, standing-ovation-worthy performance… and TheGlitz had front-row seats to the flavour symphony. From the opening act of perfectly charred kebabs that flirted with fire and spice, to the rich, masala-drenched crescendo of the tawa chicken, and finally the sweet, syrup-soaked encore of the cream kunafa… every dish delivered drama, depth, and delicious storytelling.

The staff, with the finesse of seasoned directors, turned a packed house into a seamless production, conjuring a table for us with the flair of a culinary magic trick. So pardon us, if we are a tad poetic and dramatic… We are TheGlitz of course…

So in our words… It wasn’t just dining at Persian Darbar, it was a five-sense experience marinated in warmth, plated with precision, and served with soul. Would we go back? Faster than you can say “extra garlic naan, please.” …Because here, food isn’t just cooked… it’s choreographed, plated with purpose, and served with the kind of panache that lingers long after the last bite. At Persian Darbar, you don’t just eat… you taste legacy, you savour comfort, and you devour indulgence in its most royal form.
