Gaurav Khanna in the negative spotlight because…?
TheGlitz muses – When two separate controversies begin circling the same celebrity within a relatively short span of time, questions inevitably follow. Television superstar Gaurav Khanna has recently found himself at the centre of two very different narratives — one involving his estranged wife Akanksha Chamola and another involving actress Shagun Sharma. And now, social media is asking a bigger question: is this simply the unpredictable nature of celebrity news, or is there a larger publicity narrative at play? And then Orry spoke out…

The Akanksha Chamola Chapter

Akanksha Chamola’s appearance on Lock Upp 2 brought her relationship with Gaurav Khanna firmly into the spotlight. The former couple’s separation and reported divorce proceedings became part of the show’s larger conversation, with Akanksha making headlines after indicating that she would prefer her dog to visit her rather than Gaurav. In fact, throughout the show, there were references of Gaurav and at the end, his name got massive views and added to Lock Up 2’s success.
But the question that emerged was whether the story was simply reality television playing out in real time — or whether the narrative was being amplified for publicity.
Then Came Shagun Sharma

Soon after, another story involving Gaurav began circulating. Actor Shagun Sharma who was seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, refused to talk about how poorly she performed in the stunt based show helmed by Rohit Shetty. Instead, Shagun spoke to all and sundry about her experience with Gaurav during the show and alleged that she had been bullied by him.
Again, the story gained traction quickly.
Allegations, of course, remain allegations unless independently established, and Gaurav’s side of the story must be considered. But the timing of two separate negative narratives around the same “huge” television star inevitably prompted viewers to look more closely.
TheGlitz Asks the Question
That was precisely what TheGlitz questioned through its Instagram post: was Gaurav once again being placed in the negative spotlight?
The post, mind you, never claimed to have proof of a coordinated campaign. It simply asked the question that many in the entertainment industry might be quietly asking: when two separate controversies involving the same high-profile television actor surface within a relatively short window, is it really just coincidence?
…Because there is an undeniable publicity equation at play here. Take two relatively lesser-known female actors, attach their names to a hugely recognisable television star, and suddenly the visibility quotient changes dramatically. Gaurav Khanna has a massive television following, thanks in no small measure to his hugely popular stint as Anuj Kapadia. His name alone guarantees curiosity, clicks, comments and social-media engagement.
And then there is the common thread that makes the coincidence even more intriguing: both women were reportedly being handled by the same PR agency.
Now, does that automatically mean there was a deliberate strategy to keep Gaurav’s name circulating in a negative context? Absolutely not. But does it make the timing and repetition interesting enough to question? Definitely.
Was this simply smart publicity riding on the name of a much bigger television star? Was it an attempt to manufacture buzz around emerging actors? Or was there genuinely no connection whatsoever — just two unrelated stories landing in the same news cycle?
That, for now, is the million-dollar question. And perhaps the most interesting part of this entire saga is not what was said, but why Gaurav Khanna’s name keeps appearing at the centre of it.
And then came an unexpected response.
Orry Weighs In
Orry, who had apparently shared a vanity with Gaurav during the filming of Khatron Ke Khiladi, responded directly to TheGlitz’s Instagram post.

His comment was strikingly candid — and offered a very different perspective on the Akanska and Shagun controversy. Orry wrote about Gaurav’s estranged wife: “She is just blackening his good name and milking his fame for her own views no one knows who she is I dint even know he was married and we shared a vanity together for a month in Capetown during KKK filming this is complete shameless behavior to test and take advantage of a good man this girl is a real snake in the grass.”
Adding for Shagun, “And as for shagun I am pretty sure I bullied her more during KKK and we are still good friends it’s just fun to bully her cause she gives good reactions and we needed entertainment.”
The comment immediately adds another dimension to the conversation. Orry is essentially suggesting that what audiences may perceive as serious interpersonal conflict could, at least in part, have been interpreted very differently by people who were actually present during filming.
His admission that he himself “bullied” Shagun in a joking context, while saying they remain friends, also raises questions about how interactions inside reality-show environments are subsequently interpreted once they become part of the publicity cycle.
Is There a PR Pattern?
TheGlitz also noticed what appeared to be a common PR connection around the two narratives. But this is where it is important to draw a line between observation and accusation.
A shared agency or publicity ecosystem does not, by itself, prove that a coordinated “hate PR” campaign exists. Nor does it establish who may have conceived or commissioned one.
Celebrity publicity today operates in a complicated ecosystem where interviews, reality shows, social-media posts, entertainment portals and influencer commentary can feed into one another. Sometimes controversy is organic. Sometimes it is amplified. Sometimes a headline simply acquires a life of its own.
The Bigger Entertainment Question
What makes the Gaurav Khanna episode interesting is not simply the controversy itself, but how quickly competing versions of the story can emerge.
One person speaks. Another responds. Social media takes sides. Industry insiders add their voices. Soon, the original event can become secondary to the narrative surrounding it.
And with television stars commanding enormous fan bases, even a negative headline can generate extraordinary visibility.
At TheGlitz, we are not declaring that a coordinated campaign exists. We are asking whether the pattern deserves scrutiny. Because in today’s entertainment industry, negative publicity can sometimes be publicity nonetheless — and the line between organic controversy and carefully amplified narrative is becoming increasingly difficult to see.
