Sonakshi Sinha is back! …Back in the starry spotlight after the super duper success of the maverick Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’. However, before this Netflix masterpiece, which everyone is talking about, things were not exactly going great for our pretty Sona. Sadly, the audience had completely forgotten about her. Sona was not in the news and was relegated to being “irrelevant” to today’s cinema.

But after the super duper success of Heeramandi, news filtered in that Sonakshi Sinha was getting married on June 23, 2024. However, TheGlitz was told by a source that Sonakshi Sinha was already married to Zahir Iqbal. They had got married two years ago and were living together from then on.

No News?

The last two years were bad for Sonakshi professionally. Most of her films flopped and she had almost been forgotten. There was no news about her on any of the goss columns or even a blind item so we can forgiven for not bothering about Sona’s personal life’. The last we saw her was when she along with the entire cast including her alleged boyfriend ‘Zahir Iqbal’ came to a suburban event to promote her film ‘Double X’. That film super bombed at the theatres and the entire cast including Sona was relegated to obscurity, yet once again.

Down And Up!

Professionally, critics insisted that Sonakshi had reached the end of her tether and she had nowhere to go, but down the ladder. Naysayers wrote her off as a has-been. After all, she was already 37 and in Bollywood, the age of a heroine always tends to be a red flag. But just when they were ready to push her into the ‘flop star kids’ list, Heeramandi happened!

Critics changed tracks faster than chameleons and praised Sonakshi to the skies. Her portrayal of the conniving Fareedan surpassed expectations. From uninhibitedly doing a foreplay scene with a woman to dancing in wild abandon, Sonakshi was a revelation in ‘Heeramandi’. No wonder, she was back to being heralded as ‘Asli Sona’ in fickle Bollywood. Sona had risen like the indomitable phoenix.

Dating Zahir

But the hiatus before ‘Heeramandi’ worked for Sona. Mind you, she was not sitting in a secluded corner twiddling her thumbs and sulking about all the fracas about her professional life! No sir!

Instead, she was happily enjoying her ‘me time’ dancing around trees (pardon the defunct Bollywood expression -we’ve been weaned on Bollywood’) or rather going out on dates with the good-looking Zahir, without having the intrusive eyes of the media doggedly following her around.

Of course, rumours kept popping up that Sonakshi was dating Zahir but everyone thought it would be just a fling. And since she wasn’t doing well professionally, nobody really cared.

Wedding Dos?

However, the biggest whammy was when the media received the news that Sonakshi Sinha was getting married on June 23, 2024 to her beau Zahir Iqbal. Was that true? The paps stormed around Sonaksh at an event where she was accompanied by her “boyfriend” Zahir but she just gave her signature ‘Mona Lisa’ smile and zoomed off leaving a trail of dust.

Living in or Married?

But hang on, this was not the end. We bumped into our source at an event and since the lady was very close to Sona, we asked her about Sona’s ‘wedding’ rumours. In fact, we further queried her as we had heard that for the past two years, Sonakshi has been in a live-in relationship with Zahir.

However, our source whispered, “Sona is already married. She and Zahir got married two years ago. They had met at a party hosted by Salman Khan. In fact, Salman was the one who introduced the two of them and from the time they met, they got along like wildfire. The affair has been going on for the last seven years.”

The source further added, “But her parents were not ready to accept the relationship because of itner-religion ties. So the headstrong Sona walked out of her home and started living with Zahir. After which, they had a small marriage ceremony though it hadn’t been registered.”

TheGlitz tried to contact Sonakshi and her father Shatrughan Sinha to get to the bottom of this matter. Sonakshi, however, refused to comment and dad Shatru told the paps in his booming voice that they were “okay” with Sona marrying Zahir. Rumours, however, had it that both Sona’s mom Poonam and her brother Luv unfollowed her on social media.

However, Sona had her dream marriage with Zahir – in fact, after they signed the wedding register during their registered marriage, Sona danced with joy.

…Whatever it may be, the ‘Dabangg’ Sona is one heroine who has changed the rules of this male-dominated film industry. Like her dad says, “Khamosh”! It’s the highway or the Sona way!
