Can you briefly introduce yourself and your brand “Diviana?”

I’m Kapil Chopra, an entrepreneur with a deep passion for design and craftsmanship. I founded DIVIANA with the vision of redefining Indian luxury on a global scale. From our humble beginnings in 2009, DIVIANA has grown into a brand that brings Indian artistry to the world, creating bespoke furniture that combines timeless craftsmanship with contemporary elegance. Today, we stand proud as an Indian brand making its mark globally, with every piece we craft telling a story of passion, innovation, and excellence.

What inspired you to blend Italian design with Indian craftsmanship when you started your brand in 2009?

The inspiration came from two things: my admiration for the impeccable finesse of Italian design and my belief in the unparalleled skill of Indian artisans. I wanted to create something extraordinary—a fusion where Italian minimalism meets the soul of Indian craftsmanship. It wasn’t just about making furniture; it was about creating a dialogue between two rich design heritages. That vision continues to drive us to this day.

Can you share the challenges and milestones you faced in transforming Diviana from modest beginnings to a global powerhouse?

The journey has been both challenging and exhilarating. Starting as a small operation, the biggest challenge was convincing the world that Indian craftsmanship could compete with the best globally. Building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, gaining the trust of elite clients, and expanding into markets like Milan were significant milestones. Each challenge reinforced our commitment to excellence, and each milestone was a step closer to making Indian luxury furniture a global benchmark.

How do you ensure the “Make in India” ethos is reflected in every piece of furniture you create?

“Make in India” isn’t just a slogan for us—it’s our identity. Every piece we create is handcrafted by skilled Indian artisans, blending age-old techniques with modern technology. Our materials are sourced locally, and our designs are infused with a distinctly Indian narrative, even as they appeal to global tastes. It’s this commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship that makes every DIVIANA creation uniquely Indian yet universally admired.

What does the term “bespoke solutions” mean to you, and how do you tailor these solutions for elite clients across different regions like India, London, New York, and the Middle East?

To me, “bespoke” means creating something that is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s about listening to the client, understanding their lifestyle, and translating that vision into a piece of furniture that is as personal as it is beautiful. Whether it’s a sleek modular sofa for a London penthouse or an intricately stone-carved dining table for a Middle Eastern villa, every DIVIANA piece is a reflection of the client’s personality and our unwavering commitment to quality.

Your brand debuted in Milan with its first India furniture store. How did this milestone influence your brand’s global presence and perception?

Debuting in Milan, the global epicenter of design, was a dream come true. It wasn’t just about opening a showroom; it was about making a statement—that Indian craftsmanship can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the world. The response from Milan’s discerning audience has been phenomenal, and it has elevated DIVIANA’s reputation as a global luxury brand that seamlessly blends heritage with innovation.

Could you elaborate on your approach to innovation and how it shapes the designs and craftsmanship of your furniture?

Innovation at DIVIANA is about pushing boundaries while staying true to our roots. Whether it’s integrating smart technology into our designs, exploring new materials like stone and metal, or reimagining traditional techniques with a modern twist, we’re constantly evolving. Our focus is to create designs that are not just functional but transformative—pieces that spark joy and inspire awe.

What sets your brand apart in the luxury furniture market, and how do you maintain your unique identity amidst global competition?

What sets us apart is our ability to combine the best of two worlds: Indian artistry and contemporary global design. Every piece is a testament to the skill of our artisans and our passion for creating something extraordinary. Unlike mass-produced furniture, DIVIANA offers a personal touch—a story behind every design, a soul in every detail. This authenticity, paired with our ability to deliver bespoke luxury, ensures we stand out in a competitive market.

In what ways do you integrate sustainability and eco-friendly practices into your production processes?

Sustainability is a journey, and at DIVIANA, we are committed to aligning with evolving global standards. While we’re at the beginning of this journey, we are actively exploring innovative practices to minimize our environmental footprint. From responsibly sourced materials to adopting energy-efficient processes, our focus is on adapting to futuristic sustainability trends that balance luxury with responsibility. This remains an area of continuous improvement as we look to integrate more sustainable practices into our designs and operations in the coming years.

Can you share some insights into your brand’s future plans and any exciting projects or collaborations on the horizon?

We are focusing on growth, innovation, and cementing our presence in global markets. Our debut in Milan’s prestigious design district has opened new avenues for us to showcase Indian craftsmanship to an international audience. Building on this momentum, we’re actively exploring collaborations with renowned designers and expanding into new markets across Europe and beyond. At the same time, we are strengthening our manufacturing capabilities to ensure that every piece continues to meet the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. DIVIANA’s journey ahead is about elevating Indian luxury furniture on the world stage, delivering bespoke pieces that redefine global narratives.
