Your entrepreneurial journey began at a very young age, with a ₹300-a-month job to support your family. How did those early experiences shape your business mindset and contribute to the success of Dighe Entertainment?

Growing up in Mumbai, I was fortunate to have a supportive family that ensured my needs were met. But even as a child, I had a strong drive to do things on my own and explore opportunities. I vividly remember being in 7th grade and wanting a football. Instead of asking my parents, I decided to find a way to earn the money myself.

During a school vacation, while most kids were enjoying their break, I noticed a job opening at a tissue paper company. Without hesitation, I applied and started my first job, earning ₹300 a month. That experience was about more than just money—it was my first step toward understanding the value of hard work, responsibility, and independence.

Since then, I have always been drawn to staying productive and finding ways to grow. Whether it was assisting at local events, taking up small jobs, or learning new skills, I embraced every opportunity to challenge myself. These experiences instilled in me the importance of resourcefulness, adaptability, and persistence—qualities that have shaped my entrepreneurial mindset.

These early lessons not only shaped my business mindset but also instilled a sense of purpose. Today, as the founder of Dighe Entertainment, I carry those values forward to create meaningful experiences for my clients, lead a strong team, and inspire others to believe that no dream is too big when fueled by determination and hard work.

You discovered a gap in professional event planning while choreographing your first sangeet. How did this realization influence your decision to start Dighe Entertainment, and what challenges did you face in the early days of your venture?

Dighe

Choreographing my first sangeet was a pivotal moment that revealed a significant gap in the market for professional event planning services that seamlessly blend creativity with flawless execution. Families desired memorable events but often struggled to find someone who could manage every detail with precision. Recognizing this need, I saw an opportunity to step in.

What began with choreographing dances soon expanded into comprehensive event coordination. As my reputation grew, I became known in my professional circle as “Dighe Events.” The increasing demand for my services led me to formalize my efforts, resulting in the establishment of Dighe Entertainment in 2006—a company founded on passion, creativity, and a commitment to delivering extraordinary experiences.

In the early days, the event management industry in India was experiencing rapid growth. According to a KPMG & FICCI report, the industry was estimated at ₹4 billion in 2003 and projected to reach ₹10 billion by 2007. This growth was driven by an increasing number of corporate events, weddings, and social gatherings, all seeking professional planning and execution.

However, the journey was not without its challenges. With limited resources, I had to juggle multiple roles—from conceptualizing themes to coordinating with vendors and ensuring every aspect of the event met the highest standards. Building trust in a competitive market required consistently exceeding client expectations, often necessitating long hours and quick problem-solving.

Despite these hurdles, I approached each event with a sense of personal investment and pride, treating every occasion as if it were for my own family. This mindset not only helped build trust with clients but also laid the foundation for Dighe Entertainment’s reputation as a company that treats every event with unmatched dedication and care.

With your impressive portfolio, including weddings for high-profile clients like Neil Nitin Mukesh and events at prestigious venues like Della Resorts, what does it take to consistently deliver exceptional service and maintain such a high standard of excellence in the luxury event space?

Delivering excellence is about exceeding expectations, not just meeting them. It starts with understanding the client’s vision and building personal connections to create truly bespoke experiences. Attention to detail, staying ahead of trends, and fostering innovation are key to our success. Every event, big or small, is treated with the same passion and precision, ensuring it becomes a memorable experience for all. It is this commitment to quality and creativity that allows us to maintain our high standards in the luxury event space.

Your work blends tradition with contemporary elegance. How do you balance these elements in your event designs, and what role does innovation play in keeping Dighe Entertainment ahead of trends in the industry?

Balancing tradition with contemporary elegance requires a deep understanding of both. We respect cultural values and heritage but do not shy away from giving them a modern twist. It is about finding that sweet spot where tradition meets innovation—through design, décor, or the overall experience. We take time to connect with our clients, ensuring that every event reflects their personality and story while staying true to the essence of tradition. The aim is to create an experience that feels both timeless and fresh, relevant to today’s world.

Innovation plays a crucial role in keeping Dighe Entertainment ahead. It is not just about incorporating new technologies or trends for the sake of it; it is about using them to enhance the guest experience. From interactive elements and sustainable practices to reimagining classic designs with modern materials, we strive to create something unique every time. This blend of honouring tradition and embracing innovation allows us to offer clients an experience that feels both rooted in the past and forward-thinking.

Dighe Entertainment has handled some remarkable events, from family weddings to music videos and annual celebrations. What has been your most memorable event so far, and why does it stand out to you?

Every event I’ve had the privilege of working on holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just about the grandeur or the scale; it’s about the journey behind each one. There’s a certain hunger for work that drives me, and it’s been a constant source of motivation, especially during the most challenging times.

I remember when demonetization hit, followed by the COVID-19 pandemic. These were times when people were facing financial crises, and the nature of spending—especially on weddings—shifted drastically. Despite these challenges, I stayed committed to delivering exceptional experiences, understanding that the value of an event wasn’t just in its opulence but in the memories it created. The trust my clients placed in me, even during such uncertain times, made every event even more meaningful.

What makes these events truly memorable is the trust and belief from the people I work with—clients, teams, and partners. Their support, combined with my commitment to delivering the best, has been the driving force behind every successful event.

Having built a ₹3-crore company from the ground up, what advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly those in creative industries, about staying motivated and resilient in the face of challenges?

My advice is simple: believe in your vision, even when others doubt you. Challenges are inevitable, but they are also opportunities to learn and grow. Surround yourself with a passionate, supportive team who shares your values. In creative industries, stay inspired by constantly exploring new ideas and pushing boundaries. Always remember your “why”—your purpose is the driving force that will keep you motivated, no matter how tough the journey gets.
