In a candid chat with TheGlitz, CEO Puspen Maity shares Technosport’s remarkable journey, bold vision for the future, and the secret to dressing the modern world.

TheGlitzMedia: What inspired you to create Technosport, and how does your personal fitness journey influence the brand’s focus on affordable quality?

Puspen Maity: TechnoSport was born from a desire to bridge the gap between high-performance activewear and affordability in the Indian market. We noticed that quality fitness apparel was often priced out of reach for many.

My own fitness journey has instilled in me the importance of reliable gear that supports an active lifestyle. This personal experience directly influences our brand’s core mission: to provide technologically advanced activewear accessible to everyone. We believe that quality shouldn’t be a luxury, but a standard, empowering more people to pursue their fitness goals without breaking the bank.

Your fabric technology seems to be a game-changer in the industry—what sparked this innovation and how do customers typically react when they first try it?

Our fabric technology emerged from a commitment to innovation and a desire to overcome the limitations of existing activewear fabrics. We wanted to create materials that offered superior performance, comfort, and durability. This led to the development of fabrics like Cotflex and TS Flexi, engineered for optimal performance and comfort.

Cotflex combines full double UV protection with mechanical stretch, creating a lightweight, anti-static material that mimics cotton. TS Flexi balances lightweight comfort and durability with two-way stretch and anti-microbial technology to keep you odour-free. Customers are often surprised by the feel and functionality of our fabrics. They rave about the breathability, flexibility, and moisture-wicking properties, noting how it enhances their workout experience.

With personalization trending in athleisure, are we going to see customizable Technosport pieces soon?

We see the increasing need for customization in athleisure, and it’s certainly something that we’re working on. Although we don’t have specific plans to make known in the near future, we’re seriously looking into how we can incorporate customization into our products. This could involve aspects of customized color, design, or even fit modification. Our mission is to come up with creative means of responding to unique tastes without forsaking our value for money and high quality.

How does Technosport strike the perfect balance between incorporating cutting-edge technology, ensuring genuine fitness functionality, and maintaining stylish aesthetics—all while keeping prices accessible to the average consumer?

Balancing technology, functionality, style, and affordability requires a multi-faceted approach. TechnoSport achieves this balance through a strategic focus on innovation and partnerships with industry leaders like Karl Mayer. By leveraging Karl Mayer’s advanced warp knitting technology, we incorporate high-performance fabrics that enhance durability, breathability, and comfort.

We invest heavily in research and development to create innovative fabrics and designs that deliver tangible performance benefits. Our design philosophy leans towards versatile, semi-casual styles that seamlessly transition from the gym to everyday activities. We optimize our manufacturing process and source material in order to reduce cost without sacrificing quality. This allows us to offer technologically advanced activewear that not only performs well but also looks good and remains accessible to the average consumer.

India to global markets is quite a leap! What’s been your most surprising discovery as Technosport expands internationally?

Expanding from India to global markets has been an eye-opening experience. Perhaps the most surprising discovery has been the universal demand for affordable, high-quality activewear. While preferences may vary across regions, the core desire for performance-driven apparel at accessible prices resonates globally. This realization has reinforced our mission and validated our belief that TechnoSport can make a positive impact on the activewear market worldwide.

Everyone’s talking sustainability these days—what’s one eco-friendly initiative at Technosport that you’re particularly proud of?

We are deeply committed to sustainability and have implemented several eco-friendly initiatives throughout our operations. One initiative that we’re particularly proud of is our zero liquid discharge dyeing process. This innovative approach minimizes water usage and eliminates harmful chemical discharge during the dyeing process, significantly reducing our environmental impact. Additionally, we save over 10 lakh litres of water daily through our production processes. By prioritizing sustainable practices, we aim to minimize our footprint and contribute to a more environmentally responsible future for the activewear industry.
