Your journey has had many momentous milestones. Could you list some special milestones that have changed your life?

My journey is a milestone in itself.

Before entering the world of entertainment, I was in the corporate world and I excelled in Six sigma and migrated a lot of insurance work in India and then switched to what is my passion.

I started with the entertainment industry in 2018 with the mindset it’s a new beginning and every day is a new struggle and in 2019 I had my first web series to spike my motivation Bhram on Zee5 , 2020 I had the hit series Raktanchal on MXplayer and then 2021, I also produce Tandoor another series which was talked about and got me the desired fame.

2022 was a blessing to start with Raktanchal 2 and I started my own music label as well on the devotional side. I am an ardent Bhakt of Shiva and think organically. I have managed very well and doors opened for music syndication. Also, I produced a film called Sarzameen-e-hindustan which won the Rashtriya Military award in December 2022 and I feel that’s one of my biggest milestones. I did a documentary film called WALK which is now doing the rounds in festivals.

2023 is very promising as I entered the TV world and I am doing big banner movies, so yes I celebrate every milestone as I am prepared for the road ahead.

Could you list 3 of what you believe are your major achievements?

Even the smallest things, in my opinion, are achievements.

I take great pride in having received a number of prestigious awards in my career, with particular mention of the two Dadasaheb Phalke Awards and a Rashtriya Military School Award. Additionally, my association with the critically acclaimed film L.A.C and the popular web series Raktanchal has been a source of immense pride for me. These accomplishments have played a significant role in defining my career trajectory and have contributed greatly to my professional success.

What are the setbacks you have faced? How did you tackle these setbacks or challenges? And what lesson have you learned from it?

In my experience, I have encountered various situations in life where I have been exposed to both the good and bad extremes. Despite any setbacks that have occurred along the way, I do not let them affect me negatively since I strongly believe that having a positive attitude and approach is crucial. In the field we are engaged in, it is common to experience both triumphs and failures, and it is not unusual for some of our work products to receive mixed reviews from the audience. We should not allow negative feedback or criticism to affect our determination because the verdict on the quality of our content ultimately lies with the audience who have their own distinct preferences and viewpoints. However, it is important to acknowledge that encountering setbacks and failures can have a profound impact on one’s motivation and self-esteem. I have come to realize that even seemingly minor setbacks or successes can shape a person’s outlook and contribute to their personal growth. It is crucial to remember that while it may be difficult to endure these moments, they are ultimately part of the process that leads to greater success and personal development.

When you look back, what are the three qualities in you that have helped you become what you are today?

I hold on to a few beliefs that never leave my side, regardless of where I am or what situation I find myself in. These beliefs offer me a constant reminder that everything that happens to me is for a reason, and that better opportunities are coming my way, even if I cannot envision them yet. These beliefs are some of the most cherished and valuable things that I carry with me in both my personal and professional life. By truly trusting in the idea that good things are on the horizon, I remain hopeful and optimistic about what the future holds.

In a professional setting, it is crucial to maintain a positive attitude even in the face of negative news or a pessimistic atmosphere. This involves adopting a growth mindset, which emphasizes the idea that one’s abilities and skills can be developed through hard work and dedication. It is important to recognize that negativity can have detrimental effects on both personal and professional well-being.

Even in the face of adversity, perseverance is key. It is important to maintain a positive outlook and never give in to defeat. One should always believe in one’s abilities and have faith that they can overcome any obstacle. While situations may seem dire, it is important to keep in mind that it can always get worse. By pushing through the tough times and refusing to give up, one can ultimately reach a point where things begin to get better. This mindset is crucial in the business world, where challenges and setbacks are inevitable. Yet through persistence and a resilient attitude, success can be achieved.

In life, the effort you put in is directly related to the results you will receive. It is important to always give and work hard, without worrying too much about the outcome. What is truly meant for you will ultimately find its way to you in due time. This encourages us to keep striving and pushing forward, while also emphasizing the importance of having faith and patience.

Who are the people who have been the wind behind your wings?

Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to have a strong support system. My sister, Adv Rohini Vakil, has played the role of my “Guardian Angel” and has been a constant source of guidance and support. Additionally, my parents have always encouraged me and my sister to aim higher and pursue our dreams, while also instilling in us the value of hard work. My family, including my husband and daughter, have been incredibly cooperative and supportive throughout my journey. Lastly, my friend, my backbone Nivedita Basu has been a consistent source of inspiration and motivation, pushing me to reach new heights. It is due to this unwavering support and encouragement from my loved ones that I have been able to achieve my goals and pursue my dreams.

Lastly, if there was a quote to define you, what would it be?

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” I am of the opinion that one should always strive to enhance their knowledge and wisdom, and avoid being complacent with their present level of understanding. Never consider yourself a “know it all” which can hinder your growth, and instead keep an open mind towards learning. This will lead to positive progress and long-term success in any business endeavor.
