FOO

Stepping into FOO, you’re enveloped in a sumptuous blend of crimson red décor. The entry opens into a pleasing al fresco dining area that beckons with its inviting charm. Inside, an exclusive bar stands elegantly, echoing Chinese-inspired design elements. The space is adorned with hues of gold, adding a touch of opulence. Wooden accents infuse warmth throughout, complemented by a soft glow from strategically placed lamps and ceiling lights. Gentle, soothing music creates an ambient backdrop as you navigate the two expansive floors. The cushioned seating offers ultimate comfort, making each dining experience a delight. It’s a perfect harmony of luxury and sophistication, where every detail is crafted to enhance your senses.

As soon as we were seated, Akash, the passionate beverage manager of Pebble Street Hospitality, came over and shared insights on the thoughtfully crafted cocktails. He expressed excitement over the launch of Blacklist Volume 3: The Art of Japan, following the success of previous editions. The menu, inspired by Nikkei’s rich art and culture, was curated to reflect Japanese traditions, offering patrons a distinct and immersive experience. We dived into a flavourful journey through eight exquisite creations. Join us.

A symphony of Pan-Asian Flavours at FOO

Coming to the food, our adventure began with soul-warming soups—a perfectly balanced Foo Hot & Sour with tender tofu and crisp broccoli, alongside an aromatic Laksa brimming with succulent chicken, fresh bok choy, and earthy mushrooms.

For starters (hello, Thai lotus crisps), a delightful bar snack arrived golden and crackling, setting the stage for an exquisite sushi parade. The Nikkei Avocado Uramaki danced with creamy parmesan richness, while the Prawn Tempura Uramaki burst with fresh coriander notes and zesty Chimichuri. Delicate dim sum followed—pillowy Foo Bao stuffed with umami mushrooms and the Nikkei Gyoza’s perfectly seared chicken filling did not disappoint.

The mains showcased Japanese Fried Rice, kissed with blue butter and fresh cottage cheese, complemented by wok-tossed Pan-Fried Chicken noodles. The dessert snowballed into a sweet crescendo with the Black Marble Sesame Cheesecake and decadent Hazelnut Dome. Heavenly.

VERDICT

FOO is on the UP. One of the most elegant Asian tapas eateries where the service is as slick as the serving—and that’s saying something. The exquisitely crafted Nikkei libations are more than just a list of drinks; it’s an immersive experience that transports you to Japan, one sip at a time. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a cocktail connoisseur, or simply someone looking for a unique night out, “Blacklist Volume 3: The Art of Japan” promises a journey for all your senses. Kanpai! (That’s Japanese for cheers.)
