Your journey has had many momentous milestones. Could you tell us about your life-changing journey that has moulded you to be what you are today?
I have taken the road no one in my family would have thought I would take. My father wanted me to become a doctor or a lawyer -something that would bring pride to the family. But I knew I had to travel to Mumbai from my hometown Dhanbad and be a part of the entertainment Industry. I was so passionate, I had to listen to myself – and this inner voice guided the next couple of decades of my life. I always look back to that girl who made this choice and she brings me both strength and wisdom to dream and live a big life.

Could you list 3 of your major achievements?

I don’t think I have achieved much. There’s so much to do. But one thing that brings me unsurpassed joy is my daughter and watching her grow. Being a mother is the best thing that has happened to me. No achievement can come close to going back home after a long day at work and spending time with her.

What are the setbacks you have faced? How did you tackle these setbacks or challenges? And what lesson have you learned from it?
I love challenges. I thrive on them. I have never really looked at my life from the perspective of setbacks. I always ask what next? What’s the next challenge? Sometimes I’m disheartened if I can’t find any. How else does one grow? The lesson I have learnt a long time ago from my younger self is that you’ll always win if you really want to!

When you look back, what are the three qualities in you that have helped you become what you are today?
One, my passion for work and life. Two, I love to chase goals relentlessly. And three, an open mind to say a big YES to whatever challenges that life presents.

Who are the people who have been the wind behind your wings?
It’s my family. My parents gave me the courage to make some bold choices in life. My work can get very demanding. I can safely say that I work with a creative genius who’s completely thrown himself into the world of cinema. There’s just so much to learn and work and create – and I wouldn’t be able to give so much time to it without the support of my family.

Lastly, if there was a quote to define you, what would it be?

I don’t know if this defines me, but there’s a quote by which I try to live my life: May you live in such a way that others will say, “She is a woman who, though ordinary, somehow stands out, and has a beautiful story to tell”- Daisaku Ikeda
