Over To Drishti Madnani – Co-Founder & Beauty Expert, Shryoan Cosmetics

When was the last time you did something for the first time — and how did it shift your perspective?

The last time I did something for the first time in a real sense was when I decided to take a more visible role in leading Shryoan Cosmetics into new product categories, and that required taking bold decisions, trusting my instincts, and owning the direction in which I wanted to take the brand.

This taught me that growth is not achieved in a place where everything is comfortable; growth is achieved in a place where you allow yourself to take risks and be uncertain, and that is where growth is achieved, and that is where you find clarity and confidence, not in a place where everything is perfect.

What is one truth about being a woman in your industry that deserves more honest conversation?

One of the truths that needs to be talked about in a more honest manner is that women in the beauty industry are not given the recognition that they deserve as entrepreneurs. Many people may think that the beauty industry is simply about looking glamorous, but it is not, as there is a lot of strategy, innovation, and hard work that goes into every beauty brand.

Being a beauty entrepreneur is not just about beauty; it is also about business, community, and culture. It is important to appreciate that.

Tell us about a challenge that tested you deeply — and what rebuilding taught you about yourself.

One of the biggest challenges I faced while building Shryoan Cosmetics is the uncertainty that comes with growing a brand in a competitive and ever-changing market. There were times when I felt that things were overwhelming, from product development to keeping things in line with the vision we had created for the brand.

These experiences, I must admit, tried my patience and resolve. Rebuilding during those phases taught me that a setback is not the end of the road but rather a chance to perfect your plan and test your resolve. It taught me that it is perseverance and faith in your vision that truly make a founder.

What does power mean to you today, and how has that definition evolved over time?

Previously, I defined power as achievements, launching products, growing the brand, and reaching professional milestones. However, over time, the meaning of power has shifted.

Currently, the meaning of power is to make an impact by building a brand that makes people feel confident in their own skin, as well as making beauty accessible to everyone. The real meaning of power is not just about self-achievement, but it is also about empowering others to make an impact.

Beyond titles and milestones, what change do you hope your journey inspires for the next generation of women?

I hope my journey inspires other women to have faith in their ideas and to believe that they are worth pursuing, even if the journey may be unknown at first. Entrepreneurship starts with a thought or the bravery to try something different.

If the next generation of women has the confidence to take that first step and challenge the status quo to build something of their own, then I believe we will see tremendous innovation and leadership emerge in industries everywhere. Fearlessness doesn’t mean you have all the answers; it means you have enough faith in yourself to take that first step.

Rapid-Fire: Drishti Madnani “Her Firsts”

First bold risk you took: Leaving the comfort of a predictable career path to co-create Shryoan Cosmetics. The decision to be entrepreneurs meant stepping into the unknown, but it also meant believing deeply in the vision we were creating.

First time you chose yourself without guilt: When I made a decision to put my ideas and voice as a founder ahead of seeking validation. This taught me that one of the most empowering decisions you can make is to trust your instincts.

First failure that became a lesson: One of the product experiments we did wasn’t performing in the way we had expected in the market. While it was disappointing, it was also a good learning experience for me on the importance of listening to consumers and making sure the product really resonates.

First big win that felt surreal: Seeing how customers connect and share their experiences with our products online. Seeing how the community of Shryoan Cosmetics grew was one of those defining moments where all the hard work was worth it.

First time you felt fearless: The moment I understood that the state of uncertainty will always be present in the field of entrepreneurship, rather than waiting for complete clarity, I decided to proceed with confidence despite that.

First woman who shaped your ambition: My mother, her strength, work ethic, and humility taught me that one can be determined and compassionate while building something of substance.
