Your journey has had many momentous milestones. Could you tell us about your life-changing journey that has moulded you to be what you are today?
I like to believe that my journey has been full of ups and downs. I am glad that I have achieved something on the way. There have been days where I have just sat down and said, ‘I don’t want to do this’. What keeps me going on every day though is that a few lives depend on the work I do, and a lot of jobs are connected to my job. …Be it being an actor or a business owner, I realise this is not just about me alone.

Could you list 3 of your major achievements?
My first major achievement for me was when I got selected on Facebook when I came to Mumbai. Me coming to Mumbai was an achievement on its own. Me starting my own business is my second biggest achievement. My third achievement was when I got my first round of funding, which gave me the confidence and validation that ‘oh wow I have started something which means a lot to others’.

What are the setbacks you have faced? How did you tackle these setbacks or challenges? And what lesson have you learned from it?
I have had setbacks in terms of the people I have worked with. Sometimes I put so much trust in someone that I do not realise how much I am trusting somebody. You should not trust anyone entirely when you are working with someone. When you are working there are some things you need to learn by yourself and be more organized with your finances. I have learned a lot about taxes, especially in these few days.

When you look back, what are the three qualities in you that have helped you become what you are today?
I like to believe when I look back on what I think about I go ahead and do it, I am a doer and I am extremely proud of it. …Because I like to multitask, though I make mistakes in doing so many things together, but I am proud to be able to multitask, as this has led me here. I am also more self-aware now.

Who are the people who have been the wind behind your wings?
My Mother and now my team, I would not have done what I can do now without these two forces.

Lastly, if there was a quote to define you, what would it be?
There is a Punjabi quote, ‘Teri kismat da likha tenu koi kho nai sakda jio di mai wo tera ho jaye jo tera no nai sakta’, which means If God wants you to have something, you will get it, and if it is written for you it will come to you. I am in the industry of actors and I do believe that it was written in the cards and destiny plays a huge part in our lives.

Paro is what happens when someone builds a bar because they actually want to sit in it. Ronak Maheshwari opened this modern Indian bar in Jaipur without fanfare, just with a clear idea: make it feel like a place, not a concept. The rooftop helps. So do the cocktails. If you're in the city, go... Ronak Maheshwari, who started Paro, wasn't trying to shake things up or make noise. He just wanted a bar that felt like you could actually stay awhile. The bar boasts a rooftop where the old city sprawls out below you, offers cocktails that aren't just for show, and creates a vibe that doesn't require you to perform. Rajeev Mokashi caught up with Ronak to talk about how Paro became what Jaipur's modern Indian bar scene was quietly waiting for.
