Mumbai Pub Crawl by Sumita Chakraborty, Founder & Editor-in-chief, TheGlitz

I absolutely loved The Dublin’s legendary literary pub crawl – it was fun, super interesting and of course, whisky sloshed. Undoubtedly, this award-winning, actor-led Dublin pub walk that brings Ireland’s literary legends to life was one of my best experiences of my Irish Sojourn.

I always wanted Mumbai to have something similar. And now we do! There is an amazing pub crawl on through Colaba’s whisky-fuelled nightlife on October 24, 2026, the Bombay Bar Crawl by Seven Islands Pure Malt x Swiggy Scenes that promises to turn an ordinary Saturday into a deliciously tipsy adventure.

I have a confession to make. Some of my most memorable travel experiences haven’t involved ticking off monuments, admiring picture-postcard landscapes or dutifully visiting museums. They’ve involved pubs, a generous helping of storytelling and the occasional encounter with a character who seems to have stepped straight out of a history book. Dublin, in particular, knows how to turn an ordinary pub crawl into an extraordinary theatrical experience.

I remember the sheer delight of experiencing the Dublin Literary pub crawl, where the city’s celebrated writers weren’t merely names etched on plaques or immortalised in dusty books. They practically came back to life! Award-winning actors playing prominent literary figures took us on a spirited journey through Dublin’s pubs, slipping into character with the sort of conviction that would make a theatre director beam with pride.

One moment, you were listening to a wonderfully animated account of the city’s literary heritage; the next, you were being drawn into a performance that made you feel less like a tourist and more like an extra in a bohemian literary soirée. These amazing actors brought the wit, eccentricities and larger-than-life personalities of Ireland’s literary greats into the room, weaving stories around the pubs, their history and the writers who helped make Dublin a literary legend.

And the genius of it? The experience never felt like a boring soliloquy disguised as sightseeing. There was humour, there was theatrical mischief, and there was that delicious sense of being let in on a secret. You could almost imagine Oscar Wilde delivering a wickedly clever one-liner across the bar, or James Joyce finding an absurdly profound meaning in an otherwise ordinary evening. The pubs themselves added to the atmosphere, with their cosy interiors, lively conversations and that unmistakable feeling that every corner had a story to tell.

What stayed with me was the idea that a city could reveal its personality through its pubs. You weren’t simply drinking; you were absorbing its culture, its history and its wonderfully human eccentricities. It was travel with a twist, literature with a libation and history with considerably more character than your average guided tour.

Ahoy Mumbai Pub Crawl

Which brings me to Mumbai. Thank God, our very own city of stories is getting into the bar-crawl act! While Dublin has its literary legends, Bombay has its own irresistible mix of old-world charm, spirited nightlife and characters who could fill a book or three. Enter The Bombay Bar Crawl by Seven Islands Pure Malt x Swiggy Scenes, returning for its sixth and final chapter on 24 October. This time, the script features whisky cocktails, fabulous food and a party bus. TheGlitz is ready to raise a toast to Bombay’s bar-hopping spirit!

Three Bars, One Bus and Plenty of Bombay Swagger

Forget the predictable dinner-and-drinks routine. Chapter 06 takes the party to Colaba and Little Colaba, where three distinct bar experiences promise to make Saturday night considerably more interesting.

The itinerary features Across, La Panthera and Sobo20, each bringing its own personality to the evening. The common thread? Signature cocktails crafted with Seven Islands Pure Malt Whisky, offering three different interpretations of the spirit.

And because nobody likes the hassle of figuring out transport between venues when the evening is in full swing, there’s a party bus connecting all three stops. Think of it as your very own moving nightclub, minus the need to negotiate Mumbai traffic behind the wheel. The journey becomes part of the entertainment, making the crawl feel like a proper night out rather than a series of disconnected bar visits.

Whisky Gets a Mumbai Makeover

Presented by Seven Islands Pure Malt Whisky by Tilaknagar Industries in collaboration with Swiggy Scenes, the crawl celebrates the art of drinking well while giving Mumbai’s cocktail culture a spirited nudge.

The idea is simple but rather appealing: take one whisky, hand it to creative bartenders and see how differently they interpret it. A signature cocktail at one venue might offer a completely different experience from the next, giving guests an opportunity to explore the versatility of the spirit.

Add atmospheric venues, good food and the right company, and you have the ingredients for an evening that could become a story worth retelling.

Colaba After Dark: A Different Side of Bombay

Colaba has always had a certain cinematic charm. Colonial-era architecture, storied cafés, bustling streets and a wonderfully eclectic mix of people make it one of Mumbai’s most characterful neighbourhoods. But beyond the familiar landmarks and tourist trails lies another side of Colaba, one that comes alive when the sun goes down and the city’s cocktail enthusiasts begin their nocturnal adventures.

Inspired by Mumbai’s seven original islands, the Bombay Bar Crawl connects the city’s historical identity with its evolving drinking culture. It’s a reminder that Bombay has always been a city of reinvention, where old-world character and contemporary cool coexist rather beautifully.

And what better way to experience that spirit than by moving between three bars with a whisky cocktail in hand and a party bus waiting to whisk you towards the next destination?

The Final Chapter Calls

With Chapter 06 marking the final instalment of the Bombay Bar Crawl, this edition carries an extra dash of urgency. For anyone who enjoys discovering bars, sampling inventive cocktails and experiencing Mumbai beyond the usual dinner reservations, the concept offers a promising alternative to the standard Saturday-night circuit.

Will it deliver the theatrical magic of Dublin’s literary pub crawl? That’s a different kind of performance altogether. But if the combination of good whisky, lively venues and a bus full of fellow revellers works its charm, Mumbai could have a memorable night on its hands.

TheGlitz Verdict

Dublin gave me poetry between pints. Mumbai is offering whisky between neighbourhoods. Both understand that the best nights out are about the stories you collect along the way.

On 24 October, Colaba gets its moment in the spotlight, and the city’s bar-hopping brigade has a date with destiny. Just remember: enjoy the cocktails responsibly, leave the driving to the professionals and let the party bus do the heavy lifting.

…Because in a city that never really sleeps, sometimes the best way to experience Bombay is one bar at a time.

Solo travel, as I see it, is the ultimate act of liberation. But between Instagram-perfect sunsets and the reality of navigating an unfamiliar world alone, there is a more complicated story. The question isn't whether we should travel solo. It's whether the travel industry, our destinations and society are doing enough to make that freedom genuinely safe.
