If you thought Abu Dhabi had already flexed all its cultural muscles, think again. The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, the newest jewel in the Saadiyat Cultural District’s crown, opened its doors for an exclusive VIP preview on Thursday evening, and it was nothing short of a blockbuster premiere. Picture this: prehistoric giants towering overhead, glittering fossils whispering secrets from millions of years ago, and two of India’s biggest superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan casually strolling past a 67-million-year-old T. rex like it’s just another Thursday. TheGlitz reports…

When the Badshah Meets the Sultan… Only At Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi

Yes, the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, and the Sultan of Swag, Salman Khan, were among the first to experience the region’s newest landmark ahead of its public opening on 22 November 2025. Imagine the scene: SRK, with that signature half-smile, pausing dramatically in front of “Stan,” one of the world’s best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossils. Beside him, Salman, cool as ever, taking in the sheer scale of the creature like he’s sizing up a co-star for a future action sequence. Together, they explored the museum’s dynamic exhibits that bring natural history roaring… literally, to life.

A Red Carpet Featuring Hollywood, Bollywood, and a Dash of Dinosaur Drama

The VIP opening was a constellation of global luminaries from film, TV, music, culture, and fashion. Leading the charge was none other than Abu Dhabi resident and television icon Steve Harvey, whose enthusiasm for life is almost as enormous as the sauropods on display. Trailblazing special-effects designer and MythBusters star Adam Savage geeked out over the museum’s engineering marvels. Rising Hollywood stars David Iacono and Audrina Miranda… fresh from their Jurassic World fame, looked right at home among their ancient co-stars.

Add to that the presence of celebrated actors Ron Perlman (the forever intimidating Hellboy) and Giancarlo Esposito (who can make even a fossil feel intimidated with one look), Tunisian-Italian style icon Afef Jnifen, and musical powerhouse Swizz Beatz, and the night turned into a full-fledged cultural festival.

Seven Million Years in One Evening: A Walk Through Time

But the real stars, even more ancient than a legendary Bollywood rivalry, were the wonders housed inside the museum. As the largest institution of its kind in the Middle East, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is devoted to telling the story of Earth, with a special spotlight on the natural history of the Emirates and surrounding regions.

Visitors are transported back to a time when the Arabian Peninsula looked nothing like the shimmering desert we know today. It was once home to lush, green landscapes and remarkable creatures, including a giant, four-tusked elephant ancestor that now greets guests in magnificent reconstructed form.

Dinosaurs Doing What Dinosaurs Do Best: Stealing the Show

As guests moved deeper into the galleries, jaws dropped, some figuratively, others literally millions of years ago. The museum features the world’s first-ever display of a sauropod dinosaur herd, with five species of these long-necked titans standing tall in the grand atrium. But just when you think it can’t get more cinematic, the next exhibit proves you wrong: two enormous T. rexes locked in a fierce battle over a Triceratops carcass, the first time such a dynamic dual display has ever been showcased anywhere in the world.

A Cultural Powerhouse in the Making

By the time the evening concluded, one thing was clear: Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is not merely any other museum… it’s a landmark destined to stand alongside the Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, the upcoming Zayed National Museum, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi as a global center of culture, creativity, and wonder. A place where art, science, and imagination meet to inspire future generations.
