Dr. Shefali Trasi-Nerurkar, MBBS, MD (DERMATOLOGY), Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Trasi clinic and La Piel skin clinic

She heals with science and nurtures with soul… Dr. Shefali Trasi-Nerurkar, a renowned dermatologist and aesthetic expert, may spend her days transforming lives with cutting-edge skin and anti-ageing treatments, but at heart, she’s also a devoted mom who cherishes the little joys of bedtime stories, weekend getaways, and sticky-fingered hugs.

Daughter of the illustrious Dr. Shrilata Trasi, Dr. Shefali has carved her own stellar path in dermatology and cosmetology, while gracefully embracing the role of motherhood with warmth and wisdom. Her belief that children should be guided, not moulded, reflects the empathy she brings to both her clinic and her home.

This Mother’s Day, TheGlitz celebrates Dr. Shefali Trasi-Nerurkar as our shining star — TheGlitzMegaStar Mom. A powerhouse of knowledge and compassion, Dr. Shefali blends science and soul seamlessly in every facet of her life. As a celebrated dermatologist and anti-ageing expert, she transforms lives daily… not just with her cutting-edge treatments but with the confidence and positivity she instills in every patient.

But beyond the clinic lights and medical accolades, Dr. Shefali shines brightest at home… where the title of “mom” is her most cherished. Her journey through motherhood is a beautiful symphony of nurturing, learning, and growing. Despite the demanding nature of her profession, she’s is always present for her children, proving that balance isn’t about perfection, but about presence and purpose.

Her candid honesty about the challenges of being a working mother… the guilt, the time crunch, and the emotional juggle — makes her deeply relatable and strikes a chord. Yet, it’s the grace with which she rises above these that makes her extraordinary. No wonder, she leads by example, teaching her children empathy, independence, and resilience.

What’s been the most rewarding part of your motherhood journey so far?

Motherhood is a second birth of the woman. The ability of a woman to give life to a whole new individual makes her very special. For me, the fact that when I go home I have eager happy faces welcoming me with their little hands and huge hearts full of pure love makes motherhood most rewarding. We can share our stories, experiences and re-live childhood as our kids grow.

How do you tackle challenges, and what are three milestones that define your journey?

Challenges that a working mother doctor faces is the inability to give adequate time and attention to her own kids. When her kids are unwell, she is busy taking of her patients and their kids. The guilt makes her feel worse. In order to get over this guilt trip, I prefer spending quality time with my kids whenever possible. We keep weekends free to visit different places – fun or educational together. At the same time, I do explain to my kids about the work I do and its importance. They respect my worktime and allow me to be better doctor.

How do you strike that beautiful balance between work and home life?

Dr. Shefali Trasi-Nerurkar

When I work in clinic I focus on my patients and their health while when I go home I focus on my kids and family. That creates a beautiful balance between work and life.

My TheGlitz quote is…

We can always guide our kids to become better individuals instead of making them our lead projects of life. They are a separate individual. Allow them to make mistakes and support them when they need us the most.
