She’s indeed a fashion diva – her style, amazing look and svelte figure has made her the style icon. Sumita Chakraborty catches up with Janhvi Kapoor at the Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour to talk about fashion and more.

Janhvi is definitely a style icon for many teenyboppers. Her look is copied by so many impressionable young girls all across the nation so yes, Janhvi has also raised the fashion quotient to a new high.  At the recently concluded Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour, Janhvi walked as the showstopper for designer Amit Aggarwal… and her confidence and style got her a standing ovation from one and all. Read on as she talks about fashion and more.
How do you feel being the showstopper at the Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour?
I’m very excited because I’ve wanted to collaborate with Amit for such a long time and I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to do s
So was there anything new this year at the Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour?
I think this year they’re making a conscious effort to encourage inclusivity when it comes to their models, their representation. They’ve always advocated sustainable fashion. But I think, the designers in our country have gotten more familiar with what that means. And I think the versatility and their designs is also something to look forward to. But I think it’s great that there are people who are representing body positivity walking. There are people from the queer community that are walking and I think that it’s extremely empowering and encouraging and hopeful about the direction that fashion in our country is going.
What is sustainability to you?
The Blender’s show is about ‘Pride in Sustainable Fashion, what is your take on it? Janhvi simply says, “I think, it’s very hopeful, very encouraging,  very brave and more than anything else, extremely responsible of them to encourage sustainability in consumers, in fashion lovers and in designers. And yes, I’m glad that I have a small hand to play in that as I’m wearing an outfit that is made out of sustainable fabrics and I think it’s extremely cool and it’s the way of the future.
So what does Pride represent to you?
Pride means loving yourself for who you are and not being apologetic about your opinions.
So if we are talking style, which Indian designers inspire you the most?
I think all of them. Amit is such a source of inspiration, just because he has such an individual style and he’s always stuck by his aesthetics, even though it’s been so different from what conventional Indian designers usually gravitate towards, and I think that that is his pride, his designs and his take on fashion and I think it’s something you should be extremely proud about.  But of course there’s Manish (Malhotra), who’s been family to me since I was a kid. But more than that, I think he is such a source of creative inspiration because I think he’s shaped how women in films look, how the common Indian girl relates to glamour, relates to beauty. I think he’s had such a large hand to play in that, and so I think he’s just an iconic person in fashion.
So does Janhvi have any style tips ‘n’ tricks?
I have no style tips or tricks. I just wear whatever I feel like wearing whenever I feel like wearing it. Fashion to me is self-expression.
So what is her fitness mantra?
Never stop working… workout five times a day, five times a week!
So what about work, any upcoming projects?
Bawaal and Mr And Mrs Mahi are releasing next, which I’m very excited about.
