As audiences celebrate the much-anticipated return of the Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2, Deol sat down in an exclusive tell-all segment for IMDb to answer some“Burning Questions.”

Find out what he spilled:

Revealing that his father Dharmendra is his favourite actor, Deol divulges, “I’m a great fan of my dad’s work. I think there’s nobody better than him. If you want to see three different genres, watch Satyakam, Phool Aur Patthar and Chupke Chupke.”

As a piece of advice for the current generation of actors, Deol says, “Stop bodybuilding and dancing. Concentrate on acting. You have the talent, take it ahead because that’s what we need. We are not bodybuilders. Yes, you should be fit, strong, and healthy – and know music which is a part of our culture. I know you all have seen my earlier films, and earlier actors, plus there are quite a few new ones who are doing great work. Let them be your heroes rather than people who are simply muscling around.”

Unveiling his most memorable film to date, Deol says, “The most memorable film that will always be very close to my heart will be my first film, Betaab. That’s where I started my journey, and that journey was really beautiful.”

Speaking about the evolution of filmmaking, Deol explains, “Filmmaking has not changed, it has evolved. Technology is evolving, and now it is evolving at a faster pace. However, we don’t have to evolve with the stories which were there because at the end of the day, our culture, values, and history will always be the same. Today’s generation wants to know more about who they are, where they came from and what is out there that they don’t know about. It’s high time we started digging into our history and culture, and bringing those kinds of films across.”

According to Deol, here is how the timelines of the two Gadar movies co-relate, “The first Gadar takes place in 1945 and it went up until 1950-1952. Gadar 2 is also in the period of 1971. So the two films are very close to each other in time. That is why when you see the trailer, you feel it is a very old film, but that’s the genre we have created because that’s the period in which we are shooting the new film.”

Revealing what’s next for him Deol says, “There’s a still big mountain for me to climb, so once I’m on the route to the mountain, and I reach there, I will know what I have to achieve.”
