Over To Monisha

Could you tell us about your MonZ Media journey?

Monisha: MonZ Media was born out of a passion for storytelling and a decade of experience in understanding what truly connects brands to their audience. My journey started with a foundation in software engineering and a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from USA. This unique blend of technical and management skills helped me see branding as both an art and a science; a way to creatively solve communication challenges while aligning with business goals.

During my time in the USA, I was exposed to a diverse cultural and professional landscape, which taught me how to adapt strategies for different markets. This experience gave me an edge when I returned to India, where I combined my global perspective with local insights to create effective branding solutions. Today, MonZ Media caters to clients across the globe, leveraging this dual-market expertise to help brands thrive in diverse environments.

Whether it’s working with start-ups, established businesses, or CEOs of multinational corporations, my focus has always been on orchestrating meaningful narratives. Over the years, I’ve mastered the art of blending strategy with creativity, delivering impactful brand communications across industries like corporate B2B, fintech, technology, healthcare and entertainment.

MonZ Media’s journey is a reflection of my belief that every brand has a story to tell, our job is to tell it in a way that resonates universally and delivers results, while staying true to its core values.

You must have faced a lot of trials and tribulations, could you list three challenges that you overcame on the way?

Monisha

Monisha: Marketing a product or service that doesn’t innovate:

It’s a real challenge. How much unique content can you create for the same product or service? That’s where storytelling becomes your secret weapon. I’ve learned to borrow from the culture of the audience I’m targeting and let that inspire the narrative. The demographic shapes the story and it’s about reframing the way people perceive value, whether it’s trust, reliability or heritage.

When the product doesn’t stand out, the story has to. By aligning campaigns with the core values of the brand and tailoring them to resonate with different audiences, you can breathe fresh life into even the most familiar offerings.

2. Advertising in a highly regulated landscape:

This is particularly relevant in industries like healthcare or finance, where regulations can limit creativity. The challenge is to balance compliance with compelling communication. I’ve focused on creating content that stays authentic, educates the audience and builds trust without crossing legal boundaries. Navigating these spaces requires a deep understanding of the rules and a lot of out-of-the-box thinking.

3. Branding with low to no budget:

This one has been a recurring challenge, especially when working with start-ups or small businesses. I’ve found that leveraging owned media and organic strategies like social media, community engagement and PR can work wonders. Creativity becomes your biggest asset. The focus shifts from paid media and cobranded content to creating shareable, relatable content or tapping into collaborations can amplify reach without significant costs. It’s about making the most of what you have while maintaining quality.

Please list three milestones you are very proud of?

Monisha: Transitions are like shaky bridges, scary to cross but rewarding when you reach the other side. Whether they’re intentional steps forward or curveballs life throws your way, every transition I’ve experienced has led me to a better place. Stepping out of my comfort zone has always been tempting and it’s always been worth the risk. These two transitions and also the milestones i’m very proud of:

1.Leaving Behind IT for Branding: My Leap from the US to India

Leaving behind a career in IT and starting over in India from scratch, was not an easy decision, especially since it was driven by personal circumstances beyond my control. However, looking back, it’s been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. It taught me resilience, adaptability and the power of taking risks to pursue what truly excites you.

2. Chasing Dreams and Wi-Fi Signals: The Freedom of Working from Anywhere

Starting MonZ Media, my boutique agency, has been a dream come true, not just professionally but personally. I’ve the utter pleasure of collaborating with multiple brands across industries and the freedom to work from absolutely anywhere. Whether it’s brainstorming on the beaches of Oman or strategizing from a cozy café in Vietnam, I’ve built a life where my passion and love for travel coexist beautifully.

How do you maintain the perfect work-life balance?

Monisha: I openly reject the hustle culture. I’ve worked with people who say things like, “Try hard or die trying,” and I honestly can’t relate to that mindset because I don’t think anyone should be so fixated on their career that they don’t have time to live the life they’re working so hard to afford.

When I started MonZ Media, I realized that being my own boss didn’t mean I was free from the pressure of constant hustle. In fact, the number of clients I have is the number of bosses I answer to. But the biggest advantage is that I get to choose who I work with. I’ve always believed in working with brands and individuals I admire and want to see grow and that makes a world of difference.

For me, entrepreneurship is not about working yourself to the bone or chasing success at the expense of personal well-being. It’s about finding that delicate balance where work aligns with my values and personal life. One of the greatest rewards has been the ability to work from anywhere. Starting my agency gave me the freedom to travel as much as I’d like to and I’ve embraced it fully. Whether I’m working from the beaches of Sri Lanka or a café in Vietnam, I’m able to have the best of both worlds; pursuing my passion while living life to the fullest.

The key to maintaining balance? Time management, self-accountability and staying true to my commitments, not just to my clients but to myself as well, the woman I promised happiness alongside a thriving career. Work-life balance is less about perfection and more about flow. Sometimes work takes precedence, other times life does and that’s perfectly fine. What matters is finding the rhythm where both support each other.

A quote that describes your journey and you?

Monisha: “Life is too important to be taken seriously.” ~ Oscar Wilde

Lastly, what is your message for women who aspire to be your or in your shoes?

Monisha

Monisha: I was fortunate to be raised by incredible parents who conditioned me to be the confident, self-reliant and financially independent woman that I am. They’ve always encouraged me to follow my heart and pursue my curiosities and I naturally gravitated towards the spotlight. When I found myself in the Communications & Public Relations industry and started MonZ Media, it wasn’t a surprise to me or to those who know me, because in many ways, it felt like a natural extension of who I’ve always been. I once read a quote that said, “Run a business that you can advertise by being yourself,” and that’s exactly what I’m doing; building a business that reflects who I authentically am at my core.

To all the women aspiring to follow their dreams, my no-BS message is: If you’ve found your passion, pursue it and most importantly, prioritize it. Don’t wait for the “right moment” because the lethargy you give into by postponing your dreams in your 20s and 30s will lead to undeniable regret later in life. Whether you want to work for a multinational, start your own business or venture into freelancing, do it. The resources you need are literally at your fingertips. The world has changed and opportunities are more accessible than ever. Embrace who you are, trust in your ability and take that first step or your conversations in the future, will start with “if only” and “what if”.

Be confident in your journey and know that you have everything you need to make your dreams a reality.
