Some women lead institutions. Some nurture families. And then there are women like Dr. Jyotsna Singh who do both… with intelligence, elegance, and unwavering grace. As Director (I/C) and Associate Dean at NMIMS, she has built a life rooted in learning, leadership, and lasting impact. But beyond the titles and achievements lies the role she values most deeply: motherhood.

What moved TheGlitz was her honesty when she spoke of becoming a mother at just 22 while still discovering herself. Instead of seeing motherhood as a pause, she transformed it into a powerful journey of growth, resilience, and emotional strength. She speaks of raising her son while growing alongside him, proving that motherhood is not merely about guiding a child, but evolving as a woman too.

Her belief that parents must become trusted friends to their children, while also learning from their honesty and simplicity, reveals a rare emotional wisdom. Add to that her philosophy of empowering people, creating impact, and leading with sincerity, and you see a woman who doesn’t just manage responsibilities—she elevates every space she enters.

That is exactly why TheGlitz proudly celebrates Dr. Jyotsna Singh as part of TheGlitzMegaSuperMom 2026. She represents today’s woman in her finest form… strong yet warm, disciplined yet deeply compassionate, accomplished yet grounded.

She reminds us that true success is not only measured in milestones, but in the lives we uplift, the love we give, and the courage with which we show up every single day.

Dr. Jyotsna

You wear many hats – mother, leader, achiever. Which role has surprised you the most, and why?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – Motherhood has undoubtedly been the most surprising and transformative role of my life. I became a mother at the age of 22, at a time when I was still discovering myself and learning what adulthood truly meant. Nothing prepares you for the emotional depth, responsibility, and quiet strength that motherhood demands. Over the years, the journey has taught me patience, perspective, and the quiet strength that comes with nurturing another life. Growing alongside my son has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

In a world that celebrates hustle, how do you create meaningful moments of pause and connection with your son?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – I believe children connect most when they feel heard. I have always felt that parents should not only guide their children but also become their friends, someone they can trust without fear of judgment. No matter how demanding life becomes, I make it a point to spend quality time with my son and create a space where conversations flow naturally and without judgment. I also feel parents should learn from their children, their honesty and simplicity often bring a refreshing perspective to life.

What is one life lesson motherhood has taught you that no business school or boardroom ever could?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – Motherhood has taught me the true meaning of empathy and emotional intelligence. In the professional world, we often focus on results, strategies, and achievements, but motherhood teaches you to understand emotions beyond words.

As a mother, you learn that every individual has their own pace, struggles, and emotional needs, and understanding people is just as important as leading them. No classroom or corporate environment can fully teach the depth of human connection and emotional resilience that motherhood naturally brings into your life. It has made me not only a better parent, but also a more grounded and compassionate individual professionally and personally.

If your son had to describe you in three words, what do you think he would say… and what would you hope he’d say?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – I think my son would describe me as strong, caring, and disciplined. At the same time, I hope he also sees me as loving, understanding, and someone he can always rely on without hesitation.

For me, the greatest achievement as a mother is not perfection, but building a relationship rooted in trust, warmth, and mutual respect. More than anything, I would want my child to always feel supported, encouraged, and deeply loved.

Could you tell us a bit about your work and the philosophy behind it?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – My work is centred around growth, learning, and creating meaningful impact. I strongly believe in sincerity, consistency, and empowering people to realise their true potential. For me, success is not only about achievements, but also about the positive difference we create in the lives of others.

What does being “TheGlitzMegaSuperMom 2026” mean to you in today’s world — perfection, resilience, reinvention, or something else entirely?

Dr. Jyotsna Singh – To me, being recognised as “TheGlitzMegaSuperMom 2026” is not about perfection, but about embracing the journey of motherhood with strength, grace, and authenticity. Mothers today constantly balance multiple responsibilities while continuing to nurture both their families and their own aspirations.

I believe modern motherhood is about showing up every day with courage and compassion, even through life’s challenges. For me, this recognition celebrates every woman who continues to grow, evolve, and lead with warmth while holding her family together with love and unwavering support.

Rapid Fire With Dr. Jyotsna Singh

● Coffee or calm morning tea?
Definitely a calm morning tea — it gives me a peaceful and grounded start to the day.

● Heels or sneakers?
It depends on the occasion and the mood. I enjoy both equally.

● Boardroom mode or bedtime-story mode?
I would say versatile, I am equally comfortable balancing both worlds.

● Planner or spontaneous?
Mostly a planner. It helps me manage responsibilities and maintain balance.

● One word your children use for you most?
“Over-positive”  according to my son, sometimes even to the point of denial!

● Mom guilt or mom power?
 Mom power, always.

● Your secret superpower in one word?
Positivity. I truly believe in staying hopeful regardless of life’s challenges. Emily Dickinson’s line, “Hope is the thing with feathers,” has always resonated deeply with me and reflects my outlook on life beautifully.
