Experience an evocative evening of classical dance as Bharatanatyam artiste Sowmya Laxmi Narayanan, a gifted disciple of Guru Geeta Chandran, presents a solo recital on Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 6:30 pm at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House, New Delhi.

With free entry, the performance promises a rich repertoire… beginning with a graceful Pushpanjali in ragam Shree (Adi talam), followed by the soulful Varnam in ragam Khamas (“Saami Nee Rammanave” by Ponniah Pillai), a lyrical Padam in Shuddha Sarang, and the expressive Javali “Smarasundaranguniki” in ragam Paras, before culminating in a spirited Tillana in Yamuna Kalyani (Mishra Chapu talam). Lending depth and resonance to the performance will be a stellar orchestra featuring Guru Geeta Chandran (nattuvangam), Shri K. Maai Maati – “माटी के चरणों में जीवन समर्पण है” unites award-winning filmmakers to explore ecological balance, habitat loss, and cultural connections to the land, while highlighting sustainable solutions. Organised by Somaiya Dhwani Chitram and the Department of Mass Communication, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, in association with CASCADE as part of the Rachnatmak Saṁvāda series, the festival features films like Ashok Patel’s National Award-winning God on the Edge, Vaibhav Kumaresh’s Emmy-nominated Return of the Jungle, and Ajoy Sankar Roy’s The Encroachment and The Tales of Tista.

Attendees can engage in panel discussions with filmmakers and music composer Ashutosh Singh, exploring storytelling, sound, and ecology, and participate in the hands-on Pocket Cinema for the Planet workshop designed to inspire youth climate action.
