In a landmark moment for India’s alco-bev industry, Amrut proudly unveiled its masterpiece Amrut The Expedition, the country’s first, oldest and most coveted single malt. This exceptional release marks a historic first, with a remarkable 15-year maturation period that has never been witnessed in Indian whisky-making.

Eight years spent in a specially sourced Sherry cask from Europe, followed by seven years in an ex-Bourbon cask from the United States, have crafted a whisky of unparalleled depth and complexity. With only 75 bottles ever made, Amrut Expedition is more than just a whisky… it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, legacy, and the finest art of whisky-making.

From the moment The Expedition was unveiled, its opulent packaging exuded an air of royal grandeur… a homage to the rarity and exclusivity of the liquid it holds within. Crafted with the precision of a royal heirloom, the box seamlessly merges metal and wood in a design so intricate it took six months, five prototypes, and tireless hours of innovation to perfect.

Each handcrafted and painted box houses a bottle that is individually engraved and numbered, making every unit a coveted collector’s piece. The bottle itself features a distinctive diamond-cut design, adorned with gold engravings that create an elegant, bespoke pattern.

Accompanying each bottle is a regal silver peg measure, meticulously handcrafted by a silversmith in Bangalore. Ensuring authenticity, every bottle is embedded with an NFC tag and includes a bespoke authentication card, offering a window into the whisky’s rich legacy.

Amrut Expedition – Exquisitely Packaged Whisky

Amrut Expedition is not only India’s oldest single malt but also the most exquisitely packaged whisky the country has ever seen. This launch was a momentous occasion, with loyal Amrut enthusiasts flying in from across the globe to witness the historic unveiling.

The Expedition’s price tag of over USD 10,000 is a stark reminder of the whisky’s exceptional quality and its place as an investment in history. Once considered a land for economical and unsophisticated offerings, India now stands proud with a whisky that commands respect on the global stage. The Expedition isn’t just an indulgence; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime tasting experience—a true heirloom to pass down to future generations.

75 Years of Amrut

The unveiling of Amrut Expedition also marks a celebration of 75 years of Amrut’s pioneering journey. The brand’s extraordinary rise owes much to the vision and determination of Mr. Neelakanta Rao Jagdale, the Chairman and Managing Director of Amrut, affectionately known as the Father of Indian Single Malt.

His unyielding commitment to excellence, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of Amrut’s founder, Mr. JN Radha Krishna Rao Jagdale, laid the foundation for Amrut to become a global icon. The Expedition is a fitting tribute to their legacy and a moment of immense pride for the Jagdale family.

Mr. Rakshit N Jagdale, Managing Director, Amrut Distilleries commented “Amrut The Expedition is more than just a whisky—it is a celebration of our 75-year journey, a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence started by my grandfather, Mr JN RadhaKrishna Rao Jagdale. Aged for 15 years across two exceptional casks, every drop tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship.

With only 75 bottles available worldwide, it is a true collector’s piece crafted to near perfection. This launch is also a tribute to my father, Late Mr. Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, whose vision and pioneering spirit put India on the global whisky map. Seeing Amrut reach this milestone is an emotional and proud moment for us. Expedition is not just a whisky—it is history in a bottle.”

TheGlitz Stands Witness

Rajeev Mokashi, Co-founder, TheGlitz, was a privileged witness to this magnificent launch, experiencing firsthand the excitement and reverence surrounding the release of Expedition. As the whisky world watched in awe, it was clear that Amrut had once again set the bar for excellence.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Cola

Nose: At first, a delicate truffle aroma leads to an elegant profile with notes of cane molasses. Fruity hints of sherbet are complemented by a touch of vanilla pod, with velvety undertones. A dance of sandalwood and oak lingers in the background, creating a woodsy harmony that is both subtle and captivating.

Taste: The whisky starts with chocolate-coated sherry, followed by a silky, delicate mid-palate. A sharp contrast of cracked black pepper briefly emerges, but is quickly mellowed by the rich bitterness of cocoa, rounded off with a marvellous touch of vanilla and dried fruits. The experience is layered, with a final subtle oak tone, offering a refreshing balance.

Finish: A salivating, velvety finish beneath the tongue, leaving a classic bitter cocoa aftertaste.
