This festive season, Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives turns three tropical islands into one giant carnival playground of music, food, culture, colour and seriously good parties.
TheGlitz asks; What if your Christmas holiday came with a soundtrack, a beachside carnival, a belly dancer, fire performers, DJs and a three-island playground in the middle of the Indian Ocean?
Welcome to Carnival of the Isles at Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives, where the festive season is getting a distinctly tropical makeover. Returning from December 21, 2026 to January 8, 2027, the celebration transforms the resort’s three interconnected islands into a sprawling festive playground where the usual Christmas routine gives way to sunrises, sunsets, beach parties, live performances, island adventures and plenty of reasons to stay up late.
Because who said Christmas had to come with snow?
Carnival of the Isles. Three Islands. One Big Party.
Spread across three tropical islands in South Malé Atoll, Sun Siyam Olhuveli is taking the idea of a festive programme and turning the volume right up. Carnival of the Isles brings together music, entertainment, food, family fun, wellness and Maldivian island culture in a celebration designed to keep everyone—from children to serious party-goers… entertained.
Mornings can begin with wellness sessions and watersports, afternoons can drift into beach-club territory and sunset DJ sets, while evenings bring live entertainment, theatrical performances and celebrations under a canopy of stars.
Essentially, it is Christmas… with considerably more turquoise water.

The Soundtrack: Jeremiah Asiamah Takes Over

Leading the entertainment charge is Jeremiah Asiamah, the BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra broadcaster and DJ known for his infectious take on Afro House, Amapiano and global electronic music.
With performances at Glastonbury, Wireless Festival, Notting Hill Carnival and Ushuaïa Ibiza under his belt, Jeremiah brings festival energy to the Maldives, along with a creative CV that stretches across music, fashion and culture.
This isn’t your standard poolside playlist. Expect the kind of beats that could make even the most committed sun-lounger reconsider sitting still.
And Then There’s Ironik

Returning by popular demand is British rapper, DJ and producer Ironik, best known for the platinum-selling Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer) featuring Chipmunk and Elton John.
Ironik will bring his signature crowd-pleasing energy to some of the resort’s biggest beach parties and New Year’s celebrations, mixing chart favourites and club classics as the countdown to 2027 gathers pace.
In other words: dancing shoes are optional. Dancing probably isn’t.
Belly Dancing Meets Island Glamour

Adding an entirely different rhythm to the festivities is Nourah, the internationally acclaimed Canadian belly dancer.
Blending the elegance of traditional Middle Eastern dance with contemporary performance, Nourah brings an element of theatre and cultural storytelling to the programme. Her performances have taken her to luxury resorts, international festivals and prestigious events around the world… and now, to a Maldivian beach beneath the stars.
It’s cultural, theatrical and decidedly more exciting than another Christmas movie marathon.
When the Beach Becomes a Theatre

Then comes Wildfire Arts, the Los Angeles-based performance company known for turning outdoor spaces into spectacular theatrical playgrounds.
Think aerial artistry, fire performances, LED productions and acrobatics; with the Maldivian beachfront serving as the stage. The troupe has performed at major global events and even for organisations such as SpaceX, so expect the phrase “beach entertainment” to acquire an entirely new meaning.
Watching performers take to the air while surrounded by the Indian Ocean? Now that’s a festive memory.
The Grand Carnival of the Isles
At the heart of the programme is The Grand Carnival of the Isles, a weekly beachfront celebration inspired by the colour, rhythm and exuberance of island carnivals around the world.
Picture street-style markets, roaming performers, live music, circus acts, interactive games and family entertainment unfolding along the beach. Add watersports, sunset DJ sessions and an evening beneath the Maldivian stars, and you have something that feels less like a resort activity and more like an entire festival.
The carnival is designed to be enjoyed at your own pace. Wander. Dance. Eat. Watch. Join in. Or simply find a spectacular patch of sand and take it all in.
Christmas, But Make It Maldivian
The festive calendar doesn’t stop at the carnival.
There is the Christmas Tree Light-Up Ceremony, followed by Santa’s rather fabulous tropical arrival by the beach. Guests can raise a glass at the Christmas Gala Cocktail, before gathering for the New Year’s Eve Gala and the all-important countdown to 2027.
And between the big-ticket celebrations? There is plenty more happening: the Olhuveli Colour Run, Kids Futsal League, international Street Market, beach parties, themed dining experiences, sunset cruises, wellness sessions, sports tournaments and family activities.
The result is a festive season with very little chance of hearing the words, “I’m bored.”
For Families, Couples and the Perpetually Restless
One of the programme’s strengths is its sheer variety. Families can fill their days with games, sports and adventures, while couples can disappear into sunset cruises, wellness experiences and romantic island moments. Those travelling specifically for the nightlife have DJs, beach parties and New Year’s celebrations to look forward to.
And then there are those of us who want all of it.
Sun Siyam Olhuveli’s three-island setting makes it particularly suited to this kind of celebration. There is room to move from energetic to effortless, from family-friendly to grown-up, from action-packed afternoons to cocktails at sunset.
The Island Is the Destination
Located in South Malé Atoll, around 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, Sun Siyam Olhuveli combines the classic Maldivian fantasy… white beaches, blue lagoons and endless ocean—with a much more energetic, lifestyle-led approach to resort life.
With 481 rooms and villas, 24 restaurants and bars, three spa facilities, watersports, diving, surf breaks and an adults-only section on Romance Island, there is plenty to do even when the carnival isn’t in full swing.
And perhaps that is the real appeal of Carnival of the Isles. It doesn’t ask you to choose between a festive celebration and a Maldivian escape.
You get both.
TheGlitz Take
There is something deliciously irreverent about swapping a conventional winter Christmas for barefoot celebrations in the Maldives. At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, the festive season is less about ticking off traditions and more about creating new ones… ones involving music under the stars, toes in the sand, spectacular performances, island flavours and a midnight countdown surrounded by the Indian Ocean.
Three islands. Three weeks. One very glamorous tropical carnival.
This Christmas, the Maldives has a better dress code: barefoot, sun-kissed and ready to party.
