While 2022 was all about calming colour schemes, plush, all-encompassing furnishings, and an overall atmosphere of swaddle and tranquillity, 2023 will usher in bold, evocative individualism, says Yashika Luthra, Founder, Yashika Luthra Designs. It’s crucial to bring contrast, warmth, and dimension to white spaces so they don’t feel cold and clinical because all-white interior design is falling flat. In order to add elements of coziness and dimension, people are choosing “warm chestnut or saturated ‘lived-in hue’ in furnishings, rugs, and pillows. “The era of “bling” has passed since luxury is now communicated in more subdued and organic ways.
Even though we’re huge fans of timeless, traditional design, it’s always enjoyable to spot fresh furniture trends and update your home with the newest in interior design.
The 2023 furniture trends forecast will undoubtedly be helpful to you, whether you’re searching for a new sofa, side table, or are just curious.

Multifunctional Furniture: With space at a premium in many homes, multifunctional furniture that serves multiple purposes will be in high demand. Space-saving furniture that serves multiple purposes is becoming increasingly popular. This could include pieces like futons, sofa beds, and even coffee tables with storage space.

Neo-Classical Furniture- The New Classic style is able to produce an intriguing amalgamation of atmospheres, boosting interiors with unique expression and bold choices. This is true whether it comes to historic homes that are revitalised by the involvement of contemporary style or, conversely, unfussy and modern flats that are embellished with exquisite classical furniture pieces. The use of columns, gold, classical reliefs, restrained decoration, and satin upholstery are characteristics of neoclassical furniture.

Mixed Materials: Mixing and matching materials like metal, wood, glass and leather will continue to be popular in 2023.

Smart Furniture: Technology is quickly making its way into the furniture industry, with many pieces now offering smart technology features. Expect to see more pieces of furniture with built-in speakers, temperature sensors, and charging stations. With the rise of smart home technology, furniture that is connected to your devices and can be controlled remotely will become more common.

Geometric Shapes: Geometric shapes, such as hexagons and circles, will be popular in furniture designs. These shapes can add an interesting visual element to any room.

Colours will play a big role in the furniture trends of 2023. Bright, bold and vibrant colours are on the rise and will be a major trend. Expect to see statement pieces with apricot, mustard, sage and emerald green being popular choices. For a more subtle look, lavender, navy, rose gold, burnt orange, blush and olive will be popular choices. These colours will bring life to any room and will be the perfect way to complete your interior design. Finally, color and texture will be key – think bold, vibrant shades and tactile fabrics like velvet.
