A third-generation entrepreneur with a passion for natural, cruelty-free, and sustainable products, Gaurav’s leadership has catapulted his brands to the forefront of the industry.

In 2008, Gaurav launched Khadi Natural, a brand synonymous with trust and quality, offering skin, hair, and body care solutions grounded in natural and herbal ingredients. At a time when the personal care market was undergoing a transformative shift towards more conscious consumption, Gaurav’s foresight tapped into the growing demand for products that blend age-old Ayurvedic wisdom with modern formulations. Under his leadership, Khadi Natural became a household name, earning the loyalty of millions of consumers.

Not content to rest on his laurels, Gaurav envisioned a premium offering for consumers seeking luxurious yet sustainable personal care products. Enter atulya, a PETA-certified vegan brand that takes cruelty-free beauty to new heights. As a third-generation entrepreneur, what motivated you to branch into personal care products with Khadi Natural, and how did your family legacy influence your approach to building a trusted and sustainable brand?

Gaurav Singh: As a third-generation entrepreneur, my journey into personal care products with Khadi Natural was deeply rooted in both passion and purpose. The decision to branch into personal care products was driven by the growing need for authentic, sustainable, and natural alternatives in a market saturated with chemical-heavy options. India has a rich heritage of traditional remedies and practices, and Khadi Natural represents this blend of timeless wisdom and modern innovation. It felt like a natural extension of our family ethos to create a brand that celebrated this legacy while catering to the evolving preferences of today’s conscious consumer.

With atulya targeting the premium Ayurvedic personal care segment, how do you balance luxury and affordability while maintaining the brand’s commitment to cruelty-free, vegan, and sustainable products?

Gaurav Singh: At atulya, our mission is to redefine luxury by making premium natural personal care accessible, ethical, and sustainable. Striking the right balance between luxury and affordability is a challenge we’ve embraced wholeheartedly, as we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality products that are both indulgent and responsible. Our approach begins with a deep respect for Ayurveda and Nature, combined with modern innovation. By sourcing ingredients directly from local farmers and focusing on indigenous botanicals, we ensure not only the purity of our products but also cost-efficiency. This allows us to offer premium formulations without compromising on affordability. Ultimately, we aim to inspire conscious choices by proving that premium Ayurvedic care can coexist with affordability, ethical practices, and sustainability. It’s this balance that defines atulya and sets us apart in the personal care industry.

Ingredient sourcing plays a critical role in the authenticity of your products. How does Khadi Natural, atulya, and Naturo&Orgo ensure that the ingredients are sustainably sourced, and what role do partnerships with farmers play in this process?

Gaurav Singh: Ingredient sourcing is the foundation of authenticity and effectiveness in our products, and at Khadi Natural, atulya, and Naturo&Orgo, we’ve made it a cornerstone of our operations. We believe that truly natural, Ayurvedic, and organic products start with high-quality, sustainably sourced ingredients that are not only good for consumers but also respectful of the environment and the communities involved in their cultivation.

This approach also allows us to nurture long-term relationships with these communities, providing them with consistent livelihood opportunities while promoting traditional farming methods.

For Khadi Natural, the focus is on preserving the authenticity of Indian Ayurvedic and natural ingredients. We collaborate with farmers who practice sustainable agriculture, avoiding synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, to ensure that the raw materials remain pure and potent.

At atulya, our emphasis on premium Ayurvedic and natural personal care demands the finest natural ingredients. By partnering with eco-certified suppliers and local growers, we ensure that every ingredient meets our strict standards of quality and sustainability.

With Naturo&Orgo, the goal is to empower other brands with ethically and sustainably sourced ingredients. We’ve created a robust supply chain that guarantees purity and sustainability, making it easier for our private-label and third-party clients to align with the growing demand for clean, natural, and organic products.

These partnerships with farmers play a crucial role in promoting sustainable agriculture and biodiversity. They enable us to source responsibly while giving back to the communities that nurture these ingredients. Beyond financial support, we also provide training and resources to help farmers adopt eco-friendly practices, ensuring that our operations leave a positive impact on both people and the planet.

Innovation is at the heart of your brands. How do you approach product development and innovation, and what role does technology play in enhancing the quality and sustainability of your offerings?

Gaurav Singh: Our approach to product development and innovation is deeply rooted in understanding our customers’ evolving needs while staying committed to our core values.

The process begins with extensive research—both into emerging consumer trends and scientific advancements. We collaborate with experts, from botanists to technologists, to ensure that each product is thoughtfully crafted, combining traditional wisdom with cutting-edge techniques throughout the supply chain.

Technology plays a pivotal role in enhancing both the quality and sustainability of our offerings. From precision extraction methods that preserve the potency of natural ingredients to leveraging AI-driven analytics for predicting consumer preferences, we use advanced tools to ensure our products meet the highest standards. Furthermore, innovations like QR codes on packaging allow us to offer transparency, enabling customers to trace the product’s journey and access detailed usage and sustainability information.
