From day one, Abhishek Malhan (Fukra Insaan) has worked hard. He knew he had an army of followers outside the house. But he chose to give his 100 percent in tasks, had a good relationship with his co-mates, showed his flamboyant personality and had all the markings of a winner. In fact, until the halfway stage, it really looked rather clear that he would be the undisputed winner of Bigg Boss Ott Season 2 for there was no competition. But did Bigg Boss play dirty and demoralize and demotivate Abhishek Malhan aka Fukra Insaan? TheGlitz delves into this matter. Read on…

Actors Palak Purswani and Akanksha Puri brought in the oomph levels but got out of the house faster than expected. Actors Falak Naaz and Jiya Shankar struggled to show their ‘real’ personalities more so as they were super conscious of the 200 cameras in the house and preferred to show their ‘good’ side. Avinash Sachdev was tagged as the “janta” by Salman Khan for being a fencesitter. Cyrus Broacha was super cute but he did a bakra of Bigg Boss and opted out. Pooja Bhatt, the channel’s ladli got away by spouting unending philosophies that made no sense.

Pooja Bhatt Season?

In fact, Salman said this Bigg Boss OTT season 2 would be known as the “Pooja Bhatt” season. Seriously?! Perhaps he was watching a Bigg Boss OTT in a parallel verse. …Don’t know what was more irksome, a constantly chewing Pooja Bhatt, a Pooja Bhatt talking nonstop about the vagaries of the youth or a Pooja Bhatt acting ‘holier than thou’? But of course, being a part of the film frat, Salman Khan as usual was openly biased to Pooja. Talking about Pooja, can we leave Bebica out? Bebica added the “vamp” color to the season but it was more fun watching her fight with Abhishek.

Manisha Rani

Was it hate or was it love? Manisha Rani was OTT with her flirtation and what not – but she did impress in parts. The less said about this season’s foreign export Jad Hadid the better, he just close hugged his way especially the girls through the weeks until thankfully, he was out in a double elimination with Avinash Sachdev.

Abhishek Malhan

Elvish Yadav

But Abhishek Malhan throughout shone brightly. He was impressive – with his strategies, his clear thinking and his straightforwardness. He fought with people during the task but after it, went back to the “enemy camp” to clear things face-to-face. He was indeed the clear winner. It was at this point that Bigg Boss decided to send two wild cards – youtuber Elvish Yadav and actor Aashika Bhatia. Elvish’s presence had an impact almost immediately – it was clear that he was a ‘star’ with his ‘Systuum’ and would give a ‘takkar’ to Abhishek. But what was really nice was to see the camaraderie between Elvish and Abhishek.

Elvish Yadav

That’s when Bigg Boss decided to play the nasty big brother. They spliced Abhishek’s conversation about Elvish and him being a wild card and that wild cards never win and spotlighted it. Salman added ‘tarka’ to it and a needless issue was made about it. What they actually did was plant mistrust in both Elvish and Abhishek’s minds against each other. After that, it was a painful downhill for Abhishek who valiantly fought the odds but the makers made sure that he just wouldn’t succeed.

Jadh Hadid

An innocent conversation with Jadh where Jadh quizzed Abhishek about why he thought he deserved to win, was blown out of context. Abhishek listed his winning qualities but the makers made it sound like he was arrogant. Furthermore when Elvish said he would give the trophy happily to Abhishek and Abhishek honestly said he would keep it himself was shown in a bad light. A preachy Pooja screeched it showed Abhishek’s personality… what did he show? That he wanted to win?

But wasn’t that the goal of every contestant? Why was Abhishek treated as if he had broken one of the holy commandments? Even at the finale, a visibly ill Abhishek couldn’t participate in some of the songs, Salman said, ‘It was because the wild card had shaken him up?’ Seriously?!

We love Bigg Boss and never miss any season of it. But we too know the games Bigg Boss plays. But this time, it was just not fair to demotivate and demoralize Abhishek Malhan. Agreed, Elvish Yadav was super but Bigg Boss could have left it as a healthy competition between the two without demoralising Abhishek. But Fukra Insaan fought well and won hearts. So more power to him!
