Rimple & Harpreet Stars Wamiqa Gabbi

TheGlitz reports on a collection where memory becomes couture and every stitch breathes cinema.

In an era where fashion often flirts with spectacle, Rimple & Harpreet choose instead to seduce with subtlety. Their latest couture campaign, Muse in the Studio, is not merely a visual feast, but an introspective cinematic fable woven in silk, sequins, and the silences of a bygone era. Starring the ethereal Wamiqa Gabbi as the mysterious Mrs. Geetha Rai, this stylised editorial unfolds like a forgotten dream… delicate, decadent, and achingly romantic. TheGlitz reports on a campaign that redefines narrative fashion with sheer artistry.

Rimple & Harpreet’s Cinematic Excellence

Rimple & Harpreet

Set in a dusky artist’s studio steeped in mid-century European charm, the story harks back to the ’60s and introduces us to a fictional diplomat’s wife… poised, lonely, enigmatic. Styled by Rimple Narula herself, the film frames the fictional heroine not just as a muse but as a woman teetering between societal roles and private desires. She waits for her lover to return and immortalise her on canvas, all the while meandering through a mise-en-scène that blurs memory and longing, stillness and movement.

Spectacular!

This campaign signals a new direction for the designer duo, known for their spectacular costume creations in films like Padmaavat, Heeramandi, and the upcoming Ramayana. But here, they switch lenses… from epic to intimate. The studio becomes a sanctuary, where couture becomes a second skin and storytelling a whisper between pleats and pearls.

“We wanted to blur the line between costume and couture,” says Rimple Narula. “To clothe not just a character, but her memories, her longing, her quiet rebellion. Wamiqa embodied Mrs. Geetha Rai with such grace and vulnerability, allowing the garments to become echoes of her inner world. It’s a love letter to feminine complexity, to nostalgia, and to the power of style as narrative.”

Wamiqa The Star

Wamiqa Gabbi, with her nuanced performance, becomes both muse and mirror. “Stepping into the world of Mrs. Geetha Rai was like slipping into a forgotten memory… delicate, layered, and full of longing. Rimple & Harpreet’s vision allowed me to explore a character through the poetry of fabric and form,” she reflects. “Every look told its own story, and I felt deeply connected to the quiet strength and vulnerability she carried.”

The Look

The wardrobe is a visual archive of eras and aesthetics. Sequined saris shimmer like old film reels; European lace lehengas breathe whispers of colonial nostalgia; hand-embroidered jackets and vintage Victorian accessories add gravitas and romance in equal measure. Old and new merge seamlessly… archival Rimple & Harpreet pieces layered with bespoke new creations to tell a story that is both timeless and timely.

Truly Scenic

The set is a mood-board come to life. Shafts of golden light spill over velvet drapes, ornate partitions, and oil paintings. Victorian dressers stand alongside scattered studio tools, creating a curated chaos… echoing the emotional labyrinth Mrs. Rai inhabits. Every detail, from the folds of fabric to the dusty sunlight, serves the narrative, painting a picture where every object is part relic, part witness.

The Result!

Muse in the Studio doesn’t just celebrate fashion… it immortalises cinematic emotions. It’s costume as memory, couture as catharsis. Rimple & Harpreet have once again reaffirmed their position as master storytellers, crafting not just garments but galaxies, where every silhouette holds a secret, and every sequin is stitched with emotion.

A masterclass in mood, a tribute to timeless femininity, and a stunning convergence of cinema and couture, this campaign is not just seen, it’s felt. Stylish, soulful, and steeped in narrative richness, Muse in the Studio is Rimple & Harpreet’s most hauntingly beautiful offering yet.
