This Women’s Day, TheGlitz Super Woman celebrates “Firsts & Fearless” which is a tribute to women who dare to step into uncharted territory, challenge creative conventions, and build with conviction even when the world expects them to play safe. These are women who embrace reinvention, transform setbacks into stepping stones, and understand that progress matters more than perfection.

…Among this new generation of thoughtful, fearless creators is Garima Karwariya, Founder, GKD.EDIT — a contemporary label built on the idea that fashion should do more than adorn women; it should understand them.

Rooted in structural precision, surface innovation, and intuitive draping, Garima’s creative process begins far beyond the fashion studio. Inspiration emerges from the changing hues of the sky, the textures of beaches, cultural patterns, and architectural lines — abstract references that slowly evolve into sculptural garments through research-driven patternmaking.

The result is a signature aesthetic that blends strength with softness, minimalism with high drama. Rather than chasing trend-driven collections, GKD.EDIT focuses on timeless hero pieces — garments designed to endure beyond a season.

Working with luxury suppliers and refined materials, the brand is built around a powerful philosophy: “minimal luxury with maximal impact.”

Perhaps that’s why Garima strongly believes that power is clarity — the confidence to stay true to one’s creative voice without diluting it for every passing trend. It is the quiet strength to build something meaningful with intention and empathy.

That same ethos shapes the culture she hopes to create through GKD.EDIT — a space where teams feel valued, artisans are respected, and customers feel truly understood.

…Because in Garima Karwariya’s world, the most powerful kind of luxury is not loud or excessive.

It is thoughtful. It is expressive. And above all, it is fearlessly authentic — exactly the kind of spirit TheGlitz Super Woman: Firsts & Fearless was created to celebrate.

“If my journey stands for anything, I want it to show that building something meaningful takes patience, not pressure. I hope young women see that it’s okay to evolve at their own pace, to create work that reflects who they truly are not just what the world expects them to be.”

Firsts & Fearless

Over To Garima Karwariya, Founder, GKD.EDIT

When was the last time you did something for the first time — and how did it shift your perspective?

The last time I truly did something for the first time was during our Petal Symphony collection shoot. It came together at the very last moment, and due to time constraints, I couldn’t bring a stylist on board.

For the first time, I found myself designing the entire set and styling every garment on my own. From conceptualising the visual mood to draping, accessorising, and ensuring every frame reflected our identity, I was deeply involved in every detail.

It was intense and honestly quite challenging, but it became a turning point for me. The experience made me realise how crucial presentation is to a brand. How a collection is styled and showcased directly shapes how customers perceive not just the garments, but the brand’s voice, emotion, and positioning.

While I’m proud that I managed it smoothly, it also reinforced something important creative vision thrives best with the right professional collaborators. Great styling doesn’t just enhance a collection, it elevates the entire story.

What is one truth about being a woman in your industry that deserves more honest conversation?

One honest truth is that as women in the fashion industry, we’re often expected to be endlessly creative, emotionally intuitive, and professionally sharp all at the same time, without ever seeming overwhelmed. There’s a quiet pressure to “effortlessly” balance everything.

To look graceful while handling production chaos, deadlines, fittings, budgets, and brand strategy.

What deserves more conversation is that this balance isn’t effortless, it’s intentional and often exhausting. In many ways, being a woman in this industry means turning empathy into strength and vision into leadership. And that journey, with all its intensity, deserves to be spoken about more openly.

Tell us about a challenge that tested you deeply — and what rebuilding taught you about yourself.

One of the most testing phases for me was when a collection we had poured months of emotion and effort into didn’t translate the way we expected it to- not in response, not in sales, not in visibility.

As a designer, your work is deeply personal. So when something doesn’t land, it can quietly shake your confidence. I questioned my instincts, my aesthetic, even my voice as a creator.

But rebuilding from that moment changed me.

Instead of rushing to fix outcomes, I went inward. I studied our audience more deeply, found my niche, strengthened our visual storytelling, and most importantly I learned to separate self-worth from a single result.

What does power mean to you today, and how has that definition evolved over time?

Earlier, I used to think power was about visibility, being seen, being celebrated, being constantly present. It felt like louder moments, bigger milestones, and external validation. But over time, my understanding has softened and strengthened at the same time.

Today, power means clarity.
It means knowing who you are as a creator and not diluting your voice to fit every trend.
It means building something meaningful, quietly and consistently.
It means choosing intention over impulse.

As a woman and a designer, power is also the freedom to lead with empathy to create spaces where teams feel valued, artisans feel respected, and customers feel understood. Real power isn’t loud anymore.
It’s composed. It’s self-assured. And that’s the energy I want every GKD.Edit piece to carry.

Beyond titles and milestones, what change do you hope your journey inspires for the next generation of women?

Beyond titles and milestones, I hope my journey inspires women to trust their creative voice even when it doesn’t fit into existing moulds. You don’t have to be louder to be powerful.
You don’t have to follow every trend to stay relevant. And you don’t have to choose between ambition and authenticity.

If my journey stands for anything, I want it to show that building something meaningful takes patience, not pressure. I hope young women see that it’s okay to evolve at their own pace, to create work that reflects who they truly are not just what the world expects them to be.

…Because real legacy isn’t built on applause.
It’s built on intention, integrity, and the courage to stay original.

First time you chose yourself without guilt: When I began protecting my time and creative energy without feeling the need to please everyone.
First failure that became a lesson: A collection built for the masses helped me realise my niche, it had a little bit of everything.
First big win that felt surreal: after figuring my niche design concept it got picked up organically by stylists and creators, that was a big win.
First time you felt fearless: The moment I trusted my instincts over outside opinions while designing.
First woman who shaped your ambition: My mother, whose quiet strength and grace defined my idea of being.
