This Week on TheGlitz – Haute Hotspots & Launches

Sip, Savour, Repeat: A Luxe Wine Dinner to Remember at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar
Seven courses, exquisite wines, and an evening that blurred the line between dining and theatre

For This Week on TheGlitz, this was, honestly, not just any other dinner at a premium restaurant… oh no, it was actually a fab sensory journey that unfolded in the most indulgent, beautifully paced way at Romano’s at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar. Rated amongst the best 100 chefs in the global gastronomical world, Chef Javier Rodríguez’s seven-course tasting menu was nothing short of fabulous… each plate layered with finesse, each pairing thoughtfully curated, and every moment worth savouring.

The evening opened with the perfect pour… Villa Sandi Il Fresco Prosecco DOC NV (Veneto, Italy) – bright, effervescent, and delightfully crisp.
TheGlitz Take: A sparkling start that instantly lifted the mood… fresh, celebratory, and setting the tone for what was to come.

The 1st Course: Fig, coffee emulsion with South Atlantic anchovies – the vegetarian pairing was with crispy caper leaves – paired with Moulin de Gassac Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (Languedoc, France).
TheGlitz Take: Intriguing and layered, this layered dish played with contrasts… sweet figs with a wee touch of bitter coffee notes with that salty crunch of anchovies. The Sauvignon Blanc cut through beautifully with its zesty freshness, balancing the complexity with a clean, citrusy finish.

The 2nd Course: Black truffle croquette, goat cheese, roasted pepper marmalade paired with Alta Vista Vive Chardonnay 2023 (Mendoza, Argentina).
TheGlitz Take: Decadent, creamy, and unapologetically indulgent… Honestly, I swooned over the earthiness of the truffle mingled with the tang of goat cheese in perfect harmony, while the Chardonnay added a buttery, rounded elegance that elevated every bite.

The 3rd Course: Yellow gazpacho, roasted tomato, tuna crudo (the veg option was watermelon) with smoked pistachio paired with Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rosé 2023 (Languedoc, France).
TheGlitz Take: Refreshing with a playful twist, this course was summer on a plate. I loved the Rosé – it mirrored that lightness… fruity, delicate, and effortlessly drinkable, making it one of the evening’s most charming pairings.

The 4th Course: Black cod (veg option was braised eggplant) with rocket, grana padano, charred eggplant purée, fermented lemon paired with Bodegas Valdemar Inspiración 2020 (Rioja, Spain).
TheGlitz Take: Deep, smoky, and layered with umami richness. The black cod was to die for and the Bodegas brought structure and depth, complementing the dish’s intensity with a refined, slightly bold edge.

The 5th Course: Ember-cooked tortillas with herbed butter paired with Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Zinfandel 2022 (California, USA).
TheGlitz Take: Comforting yet elevated… This was shared and added to the spirit of companionship and camaraderie. What I loved was it had simple ingredients that was executed beautifully. The Zinfandel was plush and fruit-forward, adding warmth and a subtle spice that made this pairing unexpectedly delightful.

The 6th Course: Lamb Asado (veg option – Charcoal grilled halloumi) with fennel and orange salad, almond cream, aged chimichurri paired with Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro 2020 (South Australia).
TheGlitz Take: Bold, vibrant, and full of personality. Thelamb dish delivered a beautiful balance of smoky, citrusy, and creamy notes, while the Shiraz Mataro was intense, peppery, and commanding… a true showstopper pairing.

The last course – 7th Course: Persimmon, coconut, wild rice, dark chocolate.
TheGlitz Take: I loved the sophisticated, textural finale… sweet, nutty, and just indulgent enough. This was a dessert that lingered, much like the evening itself.

And while the menu was impeccable, the evening belonged just as much to All Things Nice’s Nikhil Agarwal… warm, witty, and an absolute powerhouse of knowledge. He doesn’t just present wine, he brings it alive, effortlessly blending expertise with humour and charm. A sommelier par excellence, storyteller, and entertainer rolled into one… truly a revelation.

The fabulous Chef Javier Rodríguez? Equally impressive. I met him at the end of the dinner… charming, grounded, and refreshingly unassuming. The kind of chef who lets his food shine but leaves you equally impressed with his humility.

TheGlitz Verdict: This was more than a dinner… it was a masterclass in how food, wine, and storytelling can come together to create something unforgettable. From nuanced flavours to standout pairings and sparkling conversations, this was indulgence done right… and then some.

An Evening of Elevated Elegance: Inside the Grand Unveiling of Chairman’s Collection, an initiative by Raymond in Bandra

Last evening unfolded as a seamless blend of sophistication, style, and storytelling as Chairman’s Collection, an exquisite initiative by Raymond, unveiled its new flagship in the heart of Bandra. From the moment one stepped in, the two-floor flagship exuded a quiet opulence… where heritage craftsmanship met contemporary luxury in the most refined manner. The ambiance was understated yet striking, with intricate design details and a palette that whispered elegance rather than announcing it.

The evening itself felt like a curated experience rather than just a launch. Impeccably dressed guests in elevated cocktail attire moved through the space, soaking in the artistry of finely tailored ensembles that reflected precision, legacy, and modern sophistication. Every piece told a story of craftsmanship perfected over time and a brand that understands the language of luxury without excess.

What stood out was the effortless hospitality and the sense of intimacy despite the grandeur. Conversations flowed as smoothly as the evening itself, punctuated by moments of admiration for the collection’s attention to detail and design finesse. There was a certain old-world charm in the air… polished, poised, and yet refreshingly relevant for today’s discerning luxury consumer.

TheGlitz takeaway? This two-floor flagship was a statement. A reminder that true luxury lies in nuance, in craftsmanship, and in experiences that linger long after the evening ends. Chairman’s Collection doesn’t just enter Bandra… it arrives with quiet confidence, redefining what modern Indian luxury can look and feel like.
